You need to download & cancel when asked to install. Yes, use safestrap to install. However, I would wait on downloading to see if Matt can resolve the errors from downloading. See the previous posts(a few back)

This rooting business is all new to me. Thanks Matt for making this so easy and providing the step by step directions. This morning I received an update via the OTA app. I installed it per the instructions and all seems well, but I'm missing Google Play and Google Now seems to be gone. Is this normal? What do I have to do to get them back? Thanks for your input.

If they are completely gone... try getting them from the play store...

I updated and reinstalled Google play store. But every time I try and open the play store app it force closes. Any ideas?

Thanks for the link. I installed it, rebooted, and it still won't come up. I have the icon on my homepage and app list, but when I click on it the screen flashes blank for a second and nothing comes up.

I just realized that when it asked me to install I hit yes. Obviously thats probably the cause of the apps force closing. How do I go about fixing this?

The only thing I can think... is where there are errors (as stated in earlier post)... maybe wait till its fixed and redownload and try again....

When you rebooted, did you wipe cache and dalvik? (In safestrap)

You might want to wipe data, or at least the Gapps data.

I moved to a newer ICS gapps set that retain the Google signature, so upgrading without a wipe might cause issues.

Yep so first I do factory reset/system/cache/dalvik cache wipes then I go to install the ROM and I get the following message:

"E: Error in /sdcard-ext/Arctic_HD_1.00.zip
(Status 4)
Error flashing zip '/sdcard-ext/Arctic_HD_1.00.zip'
Failed"

If your on SS3 then try recreating the rom slot and then flashing again

I probably did this the hard way, but I got everything up and running. I reinstalled the ROM, to get the Play Store back. Downloaded the update via OTA updater, wiped data and cache, installed update, now it's right.

Leave it alone If using SS3 you should be able to auto-update the next app.

One last question. In the Google NOW search a box reads new version available. I click the link and it says my device isn't compatible with this version. How do I make it compatible? Is it possible to make compatible?
