Is any one else having problems with the vibrations stopping for like a min then coming back? My keyboard, capacitive buttons, and unlocked screen won't vibrate for a while then all of a sudden it works again. Don't know about the ringer as it hasn't happened when I get a text or call yet.

i've had that happen with every android that i've had..... i just overlook it at this point.....

Some time ago, I was a Droid X owner, happily flashing 1st and 2nd init roms on a regular basis. Then I tried a new ROM called Vortex. The Dev only posted one public release, and never updated it for the simple reason that it wasn't necessary! It had speed, stability, battery life and a great feature set, and should have come preinstalled on the phone to begin with!
I mention this because, while I may swap system apps around, and I'm still determined to decompile systemUI to play with the toggles, I see people looking for an update to Arctic HD, and I smile... How about it, Matt, do YOU have any ideas on how to improve on what is arguably the best ICS ROM for our RAZRs? Tweaks, yes - we all have different tastes; but I don't see how ICS is going to get any better than this. My battery life is insane, and if I didn't hack things, I can't imagine what my uptime would be by now. Kudos on producing what Motorola and VZW should have in the first place!

I have read both ops but am missing something. Is there a difference between artic hd and droid hd hk? Other than appearance i mean

Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

The only difference that I read is that Droid HD uses soft keys on the screen and Artic HD uses the original hard keys that are on the bottom of your phone. Other than that I think they're both the same. Anybody else find any differences? I personally don't like the soft keys.

hmm. Never had it before. I've been having weird problem ever since I flashed the green theme. Idk if that has anything to do with it. But also ill have full signal and a little red x above the bars, but it doesn't affect performance

Regarding the difference between Arctic HD and Non-Soft Droid HD, from what I read they were the same except for the theme but Droid HD got an update that Arctic never did. I am not sure what all is in the update but visually I didn't see any feature differences between the two.

Regarding the built in tethering which is what I use also, here are the instructions on how to turn it on. I can't remember were I got them from but I found them in a thread somewhere. Hope this helps.

Just a small contribution: if you don't have SQLite you can find the database in the file /data/data/com.motorola.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
Open it on any database editor, then go in the section settings and look for the "entitlement_check" field and change its value to zero.

I came back to this after using several JB roms. JB is fantastic, but it just has some wonky issues the devs are still working on. Great work to all that are able to contribute! I just like the circle widget too much lol.

Has anyone tried manually installing the newest Play Store apk? The newest is version 3.9.16, and we're waaaaay outdated on this ROM with 3.5.19. I tried installing the apk manually, but it gives me an installation failed error, saying "An existing package by the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed."

I've tried uninstalling the Play Store from Titanium Backup, but no luck. Anyone else try this?

Kevin, save the new apk to SD card, del the current one after clearing cache & data in Manage Apps; then reboot &install the new apk & you should be good to go!

The reboot was needed. It worked like a charm! Thanks.

Vortex was my last & favorite rom for my DX. You hit the nail on the head w/ ArcticHD. I have same " no need to try any other rom" attitude because it is, in my humble opinion, about as good as it can get.

Thanks for your quick response, guys! I do have few more questions to ask...

Yes Google Play is preinstalled..... Yes you can take screenshots by default (hold power + volume down)....I use the built in Verizon tethering (simply because its already there :) )

Holding Power + Volume Down didn't work for me. Would you happen to know why??
I actually meant Google Now. As I found out, this ROM does not include it. Where can I get it?

FoxFi is a very good tethering app and it's free! This rom is really nice and you will definitely enjoy it. You may also want to try DroidHD by the same dev.
Everybody here is very helpful so don't be afraid to ask someone for assistance. 2 months ago I knew nothing about roms, etc.. but with the help of this
site and it's members I have become a new dev!

Since I've grandfathered into the unlimited plan (they do not let you tether for free). Is it better to use third-party apps like FoxFi you mentioned here?

Also, my Gmail App doesn't seem to be updating correctly. I tried clearing the cache but I was NOT able to uninstall this application. Does anyone know how to completely remove Gmail App and Re-install a new one? Is there a better solution to this??

Another random question....Before I flashed this ROM, I made a backup of my rooted stock ROM using Titanium Backup. I made sure that the data was saved on the SD Card and I also did a backup through nandroid. After I flashed the ROM and installed Titanium Backup, I was not able to view the saved backup files. Turns out, it was looking in a wrong location. Does anyone know how to change the restore location? I tried looking around but I found no answer and I seriously need help on this one since I had many things saved from my old ROM. Truly appreciate your help guys!

For TiBu: settings-preferences-backup folder location, let it search the entire device and it will find your folder. Unless it was saved on the internal SD and you formatted it :D
