Well, I don't enable safe system. It is already enabled. As far as I can tell, I want to install this ROM with Safe System Currently Enabled. I really think I'm following all the steps in the OP. The install appears to go smoothly. But despite my best efforts I can't boot into the ROM. Not even once. The boot process hangs, then a reboot, then a hang, then a reboot, etc. etc.

Where do you have the .zip saved? SD-EXT? Also, did you check MD5 checksum on .zip file?

Update: Nevermind on CheckSum. If it wasn't right you wouldn't be able to start install before getting error.

Might be a corrupt file. Try redownloading the file and starting over again.
I had it happen before.

Please don't be offended by my question. When you says that you "rebooted", do you mean restarted boot cycle as opposed to reflashing? My initial flash and then initial boot, the rom got hungup before the ICS start menu appeared. That is when I powered down(power button & vol-), Moto logo appeared, SS menu came up and I let it bootup on it's own.

I guess I'll try that. But I have downloaded it twice already and the MD5 matches.

No offense taken. I mean that within the SafeStrap recovery interface, I chose "reboot system now" after doing the install.

I appreciate your help and that of others. But I don't want to clutter this thread with messages about my inability to make this ROM work on my RAZR. So many people are having success that there must be something unique to me. Maybe I'll wait until the next update before trying again. While I'm very happy with Black Widow ICS, this ROM seems very intriguing. Perhaps someday...

I went back to unsafe side to see if it worked on the .215 base ROM. It does. You have to select and connect and set it up on the gallery, but it is there. I did notice the gallery is different. Maybe the question is, can we backup the "good one", put it somewhere, then go back to ARCTIC HD and install it somehow?

Also, using Picasa Tool, I can see my online albums. So I know the link is there.

Using QuickPic - I cannot see the online albums, so I thnk it is getting it's cues from gallery.

The gallery on .215 has setup options, the one on ARCTIC does not (on my device).

I'd be willing to try it - maybe I will............. unless someone knows if I'll initiate the end of civilization as we know it...........

you guys having trouble need to know how to install a rom-do all wipes(data, cache, dalvik),format system, then install zip-you can complain all you want,if you do it right it works,if you don't do it right,it won't.Follow all directions in op(ALL)you will have no problems, and about updates-when your phone tells you updates available, then you'll have an update

OK i went into one of my other rom zips that I knew it was working and extracted the gallery app, stuck it in place of the default gallery apk for Artic HD and changed permissions, deleted old gallery and then went back into sync settings and its working fine now. Good thought man. I really appreciate it!! I upload all my pics so I'm so glad to get this working!!

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet because there are A LOT of comments to this thread, but I noticed before people were commenting on the "Login Failed" on Google Maps. I just discovered that if you open google maps, then click the menu button and go to "settings" and click "sign in", it will ask for permission for LSID in your status bar. Pull it down and click on it and allow permission. You will have to do this two more times for SID and Google Maps, as the items you are giving permission to. Once you do this, Google Maps will not fail to log in anymore.

I can't guarantee this for the long term, but I restarted my phone after doing it and it continued to log in successfully. I hope this helps some people.

I found another little thing that won't work for me. I use Speaktoit assistant and sometimes I'll ask "her" to remind me to do something at a certain time. I have had no problems in the past with this function. But on the ROM it goes through the entire process of taking all the information and even ask if it looks right to me. I'll answer yes and then it tells me something went wrong and can't save the reminder.

I even downloaded another alarm clock, one I have used before, to see if maybe that was it. I got the same error message. Has anyone else run across this? Any ideas of what could be causing this?

Thanks...Papa T
