Didn't want to clog up the other threads so just starting a new one. I'm going to stay stock rooted with unlocked bootloader for the time being and don't want some ota update coming along and bricking me if I don't cancel and it just throws it on the phone. How would I go about blocking it from receiving the ota or even checking for one?

A dialog box will keep coming up and you can keep denying it. Or if say delete the "know your phobe" videos in preinstall. This will make you fail the system check and get a status 7 error during ota

I don't know how samsung devices work. But I know for the Razr or Bionic, freezing and preinstall bloat will cause any ota to fail. So even if it d/l while your're sleeping, it will attempt to install it and then fail. Again, I don't know if the updater scripts for Samsung follow the same process.

Galaxy SIII. Thanks guys I'll freeze most the Verizon bloatware so hopefully that will block it.

I know for Motorola at least it uses the System Version to check for updates. If you changed it to something like Go.Suck.It.Verizon instead of normal you won't get updates on Motorola... maybe its the same for Sammy?

That too, if you edit the build.prop (if your rooted) under the ro.build.fingerprint, like Matt said to "bite me VZW" it might not update because it thinks you're on unofficial software. But I've had luck freezing bloat ware and pissing big reds updates off that way.
