Little background. I got this nexus 7 less than a week ago. I ordered the wifi only but unknowingly got the mobile one which is a good thing. I unlocked the bootloader manually then used the nexus utility to root. But when I rooted I rooted as the wifi only one and it installed twrp 2.6.3.0. Everything seems good but I'm not sure about twrp being a good thing because when the correct device is entered into the root tool is says it's going to install twrp 2.6.3.1. I would prefer to just have stock recovery but if that's not possible being rooted I think I need to install the correct twrp. Is there a method that won't delete my data? Looked for a flashable zip I can do in recovery but came up Mt. I'm thinking the SU binary is the same and have no problems so any help in this matter would be great.

Twrp is not specific to wifi or not. You don't need a custom recovery for root. If you want to put stock recovery back on just download the factory image then fastboot flash the recovery in the image files.

Cool. I downloaded from the nexus images last night but unsure what one is the recovery image. I'LL hate to flash the wrong one but it was late and my eyes were tired.

In the downloaded folder, you have to go into the folders inside, then find the ZIP file. Inside there are all the image files, system.img, recovery.img, etc.
