I know its probably beyond long shot but has anyone heard any chatter about making an attempt at unlocking the consumer edition boot loader. I know there is a dev edition but i dont have the cash to drop on it right now so I was hoping it might be possible

The codes that were being sold were stolen property. That will not be discussed here. That is entirely different than using an exploit.

Although it may have sounded great at the time...no one knows what, if any repercussions will result from that for users who used that "service".
Unfortunately, we are at the point where the individuals who have been invaluable to finding exploits for the most part have moved on. I'm typing from one of those devices that have benefited from that graciousness but my other device is a full on unlocked Dev. With the exception of Sammy..it is at that point where if you are really wanting more control over your device to spend the extra cash on a Dev/GPE . HTC is the exception to the rule since even though they are selling locked up, they apparently aren't as concerned since the M-8 consumer can be unlocked.
Man..this was almost a Tucs post!
