I just did this audio mod, haven't tested it yet, I'm at work, but passing it along anyway.   Although the sound clarity is good, I don't have any fear of hurting my ears with stock settings, particularly with my earbuds.  The Bionic was definitely louder.

 

I did the manual adjustment, I assume the zip file will work.

Also did the manual method but I did less extreme values. I split the difference between stock and the 'zip' values.

I went too high the first time, then did the same as you. Much better.
