Do you have a link to the previous update kicking around?  I want to check something for you guys before you all go blasting this onto your phones.

I looked around for a bit but couldn't find a direct download for the previous update.

I couldn't either.  I'm just grabbing the full FXZ for it.  Sit tight...it's a SLOW download now since the FXZ site died and had to be rebuilt.  I really only need the cdt.bin file from the previous update...

And of course for some reason the FXZ doesn't contain the cdt.bin file?? How does that work?  If you OTA it increases the security but you skip the OTA and just use the FXZ to update it doesn't?  Nice one, Moto.  LMAO!  I'm still hunting for the cdt.bin from the previous update.  I BELIEVE the security on this new update wasn't increased but I'm not sure yet.

Confirmed.  The security is the same.  That means you can downgrade to the previous release should this one prove to be a pain in your ass.

1. Does that mean that root isn't affected by this update? My XT912 Razr Maxx is currently rooted, with a Voodoo RootKeeper backup. Will I be able to / need to restore the root after the update?

2. Besides the two fixes Motorola mentioned (related to signals and roaming), is there a way to figure out if there are there any other changes made by this update, and what they might be? as I posted in the other thread (

That was my thought.  People can save root with Voodoo.  If they screw something up, use your util or my House of Moto to put the previous version on, root/protect it, and run the upgrade again.  Done.

I suspect some baseband changes given that the release notes seem to be connection related.  I also highly expect that they patched the master key vulnerability while they were at it.  That's just a guess though.

I can confirm that I had no issue installing and keeping root with RootKeeper.

I tried as well.. But am having issues getting root back my superuser grants root to voodoo and it says root restored, but it doesn't actually, no apps work and superuser can't update the binary...

I installed this update before reading this thread and I lost my root, now I have to wait for another root app to come out or my Razr Maxx is done!

I installed this update before reading this thread and I lost my root, now I have to wait for another root app to come out or my Razr Maxx is done!

try RAZR Blade. If it fails, they did not up the security, so you should be able to downgrade, root with RAZR Blade, protect root, update, then restore root.

Razr blade won't work as it needs fresh smart actions to do it's thing. You will need to downgrade.
