No, you have to be on the official KK update first. Only way to get the new BL. If you are on JB BL, then the new recovery and roms won't work.Been following you guy for awhile, to install all I have to do is install the new recovery, rom, and gaps

One more question for me lol. After you upgrade to the new KitKat firmware is it possible to flash other Roms that still use the jb boot loader? Or would it be incompatible?

Just one way - downgrade to JB and have a fun! )) + flash older recovery
I was on official KK but now on AOSP-based ROM with 3.0 kernel (JB boot)

The link nprevette posted in the OP is to the RAZR HD. I meant to mention that last night. If you open it from a PC you can shorten the URL and you'll wind up in a folder with multiple files including 2.7.1 for the M. It's for both the HD and. M. I use CWM though.

Actually, there are two files on dhackers host. One for the HD and one for the M. the HD has a much larger DPI that does not work with the M. I tried and ran into the same issue as Nate. It's for both the HD and. M. I use CWM though.

Could have been a bad flash. With twrp I always clear dalvik and cache before and after flashing gapps. Tends to work for me. Try making a nandroid of your data, wiping everything but internal 3x, and then install ROM, wipe dalvik/cache, Gapps, wipe dalvik/cache, and restore data.yep, that was it. thank you, one problem down. now another issue, got everything installed/flashed. rom boots just fine, but im getting "unfortunately phone has stopped" over and over nonstop after ive booted up. apps are downloading and all just fine as far as i can tell, but tbis error just keeps popping up. any ideas?

same..switched to the "M" img and it worked fine.
and actually just rebooted and the phone failure error cleared itself. all's well finally. new rom is working. seems much faster/smoother!

I just had this happen on Gummy ROM. I narrowed it down to not recognizing my sim card after reboot, because if you watch the "signal" meter, it will flash a sim card, then go to 1X, then go to LTE then go back to the sim card. I reverted back to my GPE and was going to try to flash it again, or see if there is a fix floating around the internet.
