I was try it... Nothing - just bootloop.. Stock kernel won't work with AOSP..

I had a feeling it would do that but i wasn't positive. We just have to wait for Motorola to release their source.

I seriously loved this ROM, but random reboots followed by a call volume issues got the best of me. Even after the newest update, I was getting android.....FC's and was unable to receive calls and texts. Not too sure what the problem was, since I'm a newb. Might try it again once I figure out how redo everything properly. Regardless, this ROM is amazing and the work that went into really shows.

What is your installation procedure? Dirty flash, clean flash? HOW are you flashing it - TWRP, Philz, CWM, ADB? Are you following the wipe procedure? i.e data, cache, delvik - x3? What were you doing when you got a FC? If we can narrow some of these things down, it will help pinpoint what's happening.

I've been getting FC's too, it usually happens when I tap on the recents list icon on the nav bar.

Using twrp 2.6.3, I mount everything except the external SD three times, making sure to remount after each wipe, the mount again and format data. Then, in order, flash ROM, gapps, supersu, and kernel. Reboot once finished.

Everything works fine at first, then I started getting random reboots. Sometimes it would be mid phone call, which would then be followed by low in call volume. Barely audible.

I honestly only had the 4.4.285 update for a couple of hours because I kept dropping phone signal in good 4g coverage. Couldn't receive texts or phone calls. So I panicked and reverted back to 4.1.2 dead rage because I had to make some important phone calls.

That probably doesn't help much, buts that what happened.

The first thing I would do in your case is upgrade your recovery to TWRP 2.7.0. I have a flashable copy or you can look around the site. Also, don't worry about mounting or remounting as it shouldn't matter with TWRP. Then, try flashing without SuperSU and Aarghs kernel. I've never had a problem and I have never flashed either of those or had to mount/remount the partitions. Last resort, (if you don't already do this) wipe your internal data. Back it up somewhere else of course, but I know that in the past that has helped with issues tremendously. Best of luck!

ytsud101 is correct. The very first thing (anyone) should do is make sure you are using the NEWEST version of whatever recovery you are have. I personally use CWM - again, the latest version! Follow ytsud's instructions and you should be good-to-go. Let us know how it works.

Yes, make sure you use latest recovery. Either twrp, cwm or philz. I personally like philz over the others. Also i flash SuperSU with no issues..... Latest is 1.99 released today. You only need to wipe data, cache, dalvik cache and system. No need to wipe any cards at all. If you flash arrrghhh kernel make sure you use the one that says anykernel. And as the other guys said, no need to mount anything.... Just wipe, install, reboot.

One thing I noticed is that the notification sound for SMS via hangouts is tied to the default ringtone in the phone sound settings. I don't know if this is the gapps package or the ROM. So the only way I can change the hangouts SMS sound is by changing the default ringtone in the phone settings. Weird. Can anyone verify this? pa_gapps-stock-4.4.2-20140517-signed is the app package I have. And BeanStalk-4.4.285-20140516-moto_msm8960 is the ROM. Thanks in advance.

I believe that would be an app thing. Check your settings in Hangouts. Default is what your system ringtone is, change it in Hangouts to what you want.

I tried that, but it doesn't do anything. It stays the same unless I change the default.

it's defiantly not a deal breaker! I love this ROM and this is a very minor issue. Next pa-gapps build, I'll see if it persists. Otherwise, no big deal. Thanks for the advice though!
