Fast boot .211. Update to .215, reflash ROM as normal.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

Do I have to uninstall safestrap first before fast booting to .211?
Thanks.

So... I was having a major issue all of a sudden with making calls. People kept telling me to speak up and quit mumbling lol. No matter how clearly I spoke they still complained so I have fastbooted back to total stock for the meantime to see if the prob persists. It's obviously something with my end cause everyone was complaining.

Okay, so my battery is back to crap.

%10 an hour drain doing nothing at all...

Speaker phone volume in calls was EXTREMELY low today. I could barely hear the other person. Time for an FDR.

Do you mean that all I need to do is fast booting to .211 using Razr Utility 1.81 then flash .215?
Thanks.

I've never liked using an application to automate toggling of mobile data (Smart Actions, Juice Defender, etc). The way I see it is, I don't need mobile data to be turned on just because I turned on the screen.

There are times I just want to take a picture, send or read a received text message, or play some tunes. Having mobile data toggling on and off everytime I turn on the screen is, in my opinion, more of a battery drain that just keeping it turned on, or keeping it turned off, and simply turning it on myself when I need it.

I use an app called DataSwitch byTomatoX. I just have this app on my home screen, whenever I need data I just tap the icon and my data pops up within a couple of seconds. Although lately I haven't even been using this method, I've just kept data on full time.

I leave data on, never turning it off. I am 98% 4G covered all day as well. Really not an issue with the Maxx.

okay im very confused, i was on stock .211, downloaded the zip in the first post (Blur_Version.6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US) 42mb, put it on my phone, unrooted, rebooted to recovery, flashed it, completed without any errors, rebooted, no problems
Go to check my phone and it still says im on .211, not .215

Any thoughts?

Ignore that part, it has to do with the build.prop, scroll down and check the build date on the kernel, IIRC July 11th is the .215 build date.

yea i messed it up, for some reason i just realized when i connected my phone to computer it opened up the sdcard by default and not the actual root so i just re-flashed the old .211 zip i had. Damn confusing file names :)
Just re-did it and its alll good

I have a Maxx. First time actually posting. Came from Droid X several months ago. I read forums religiously and have never had problems. I'm on .215 as we speak. Been on it for days. No problems, yet no major advantages either. I do however keep LTE off because I live on a farm in an area that bounces me from 4G to 3G constantly and it's annoying. Had that problem since I bought the phone, so I know it's not due to installing .215

Only question I have is that I remember on the Droid X that resetting battery stats was pretty much debunked (by ROM developers) as a way to help battery performance. Does anyone remember that, and if so would it not be the same on the Maxx?

Just curious because I see several posts in this thread about resetting battery stats and I'm not sure why that advice is still handed out. No insult intended to anyone, but I am genuinely interested to know if this is still good advice to give people.

You are correct, wiping batt stats does absolutely nothing to improve battery life. Not sure why people are still saying to do it but you are right, it does nothing other than give you an accurate reading on what apps or processes are using what percentage of your battery. Batt Stats in no way, reflects the amount of battery left in the statusbar, and in no way improves battery life performance.

Google Android Developers debunked that a while back and said that the battery stats are wiped and reset each time the battery receives a full charge. There's no need go ever manually reset them.
