Down graded from 214, installed new 215 no problems. Gb loved the battery life on the max, 211 horrible, 214 much better than 211, hope 215 is even closer to gb

Hi riggs,

Wondering if you found a way to get to .215 from a .211 system that had safestrap installed in its past without an performing an Option 1 w/Matt's Utility which wipes the phone.

Thanks!
Cory

safestrap was installed. i uninstalled recovery and removed app from phone..... ahh.... i did get a phone call during the download of the zip file but i didnt pick up... not sure if that might have interrupted it somehow. let me try and download the file from my pc

I'm in .215 now but when I use apex launcher and long press for widgets the white text on white background is back. I'm not on Arctic ROM anymore where this intiially happened... anyone know a fix?

You can disable that menu through APEX launcher to only bring up the background screen kinda how the "stock" launcher does.
APEX Settings --> Behavior settings --> Desktop long press --> Show wallpaper chooser

If you do this it will force you to add widgets through the app menu like it was originally intended. I have it set up like this to also get rid of the white widget screen. It works wonders!

Tried this but I get a FC every time I select the widget I want

edit..changing permissions to rw-r--r-- then rebooting fixed it

Confirming that this worked for me too. Although, the new widget dialog looks a little hokey...may just take the other poster's advise and disable the old-style widget menu.

Could you please post your exact steps? I'd really like to not have to reinstall everything and re-set up my accounts and such. I've uninstalled recovery through SS and then uninstalled the SS app so far.

Thanks!
~Cory

Worked for me. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Hey Cory,

I have SS installed and I did this exactly yesterday.

Safe Side Disabled (Original System) which was on .211 with .214 kernal.
Open up Matts 1.81 Utility
get phone to AP FASTBOOT
Option 1 to get it back to .211 stock.
when it is finished with Option 1 it asks if you want to hit enter to wipe data or exit utility if not. I just exited the utility to keep the data.
From there I went directly to System Recovery, It didnt come up with a menu, instead it just started applying update, and then came up with a menu
I then applied the 215 zip from external storage and let that finish.
Reboot and everything came up as it was before but on .215

I did use Voodoo to retain root but it failed, so I rerooted with 1.81 utility and then I applied SS v2.0 into my app drawer and replaced the old apk that was in there already. Installed recovery in safestrap and it worked but I also lost my Arctic Rom (that I hardly used because it I didnt like how corp email worked and I just didnt want to set it up like I had the original).

So if you want to keep your safe side ROM, I would back it up first.

I think that's actually a known problem with ICS. I've experienced it on several ROMS and stock, Arctic is actually the only ROM I didn't experience it on.

Is it just me or did the lockscreen move down a little bit on .215?

It doesn't happen with Eclipse ICS either. I've only seen it with the stock ROM as well.

What's the verdict .211 vs .214 vs .215? I am on .215 rooted with safestrap. I didn't have any problems with either of them, but didn't notice any real differences. My battery life on .215 is good with 2% to 3% discharge per hour. I guess I will stay on .215 until/unless something better comes along. I'm loving this Razr Maxx and ICS. My Lapdock 500 is for sale on Ebay. I just ordered an Asus 700t WIFI only.

I say 215 for signal and 211 for battery. I'm dying quick on 215

Battery life will get better after a couple calibrations.
i.e. = Let the phone die. Plug it in, let it charge completely to 100% without interruption on the battery charge screen.
Unplug, boot into safestrap menu, got to advanced, wipe battery stats, reboot.
Rinse, repeat.
After doing this twice the battery life is pretty good.
