Just disabled safe system running arctic, downgraded to 211, upgraded to 215, rooted, and enabled safe system.

Phone boots into Arctic without issues and works flawlessly :D

Alex, please help a SS relative noob: I follow the whole process you mentioned, & I'm curious, my 1st reaction was "hey, that'll leave him on 2.15 on nonsafe side & (my assumption) 211 Arctic on safe side.

I've got stock 211 on nonsafe via Matts Util 1.7 (I know, it's 1.8 now) &
Eclipse ICS 1.1on safeside… so following to your method, I could just go to 215 in nonsafe & have the 215 update on safe side?

TIA, SpyderMan

I did this, so far i have noticed just about nothing going from stock 211 to this. Not seeing any more smoothness that is reported, signal is identical. Batterylife is the last test.

Just wonder if im alone in thinking this got me nowhere?

Have you noticed any difference? I'm thinking of waiting until the new artic comes out and just start from scratch.

I did all the steps pre-installation of the 215.

I put the 215 zip file downloaded from one of the links onto the sd card root as is (not unzipped or renamed.)

I go to stock recovery- and i get the android with the red triangle. I have to do the power+down button to stop it...and im still on the 211.

Endless searching of what that means and how to get around it shows me nothing (ie i AM trying to solve it myself.).

ANy help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

When you get to the android guy, press both volume buttons at the same time. That will get you in stock recovery. Flash 215 from there.

Anyone have any idea what the actual changes are here? I saw that the LTE is upgraded and that the kernel is a newer build date. Anything else? Better battery life?

Well seeing as how it hasn't even been out but for 2 days, you're not going to have an accurate report on battery life yet.

So since I have been busy today I did not get a chance to update the OP. Luckily spc_hicks updated the OP for me. Wanted to say thanks to him! :)

Installed leak this morning, was on .214. I ended the day with 15% battery left over 16.5 hours of use. I haven't had battery life that good since I've had this phone. I'll see if it continues over the next few days.

Not a problem man. Just figured I would add install instructions to avoid the thread getting filled up with questions, then wanted to post a good mirror in case anyone wanted or needed it. Hope you don't mind me slightly highjacking your thread lol.

I was stock .211 by using Matt's utility, also with a full data wipe. No root or anything else. The phone was running really warm and battery was dropping about 10% an hour. I tried rebooting it but it didn't make a difference. I just went to 215 a couple of hours ago so this is what I am seeing so far. The phone is running a lot cooler now and not really warm at all. The battery has only dropped 10% in the last few hours so in the short term, battery life already seems better. I don't live in a 4G area but comparing .215 to an OTA .211 phone side by side, the dBm levels seem to jump around a lot more on the .215 phone compared to the .211 phone. It gets a lower dBm level than the .211 does but also goes higher than the .211 does.

My battery is definitely improved. I noticed no difference on the .214 kernel.

Data is better. Using Foxfi, I now get an Open NAT type on my Xbox, whereas before, it was moderate

well i just installed 215 and couldn't get safestrap to work, it was acting like it wanted to work but just wouldn't load after you hit menu button when loading, but i ended up installing the version from matts 1.7 util and it fixed it, hopefully no one else gets to suffer thru that!

Ok i just read a post saying that you get a black screen when you try to goto safestrap recovery with the phone plugged in, I'm thinking that was the problem! So unplug your phone before trying to load up safestrap recovery!

Too early for me to tell since I just did this late last night. I'll give it a few days to see and check out 4G when I'm in an area where I can pick it up.

I just did yesterday but my phone is definitely smoother (for example, in Apps Manager scrolling through all my apps is way smoother) and connecting to 4G is quicker

Exactly what I was going to say. We'll have to see on the battery life.
