Thanks for the quick reply! On the previous page, post 110 if i remember correctly, there was mention of wiping before flashing. Is this mandatory or just recomemnded and how is it acomplished. Is it an option on the fast boot screen.

Thanks for your help!!!

NooB BKVic

No need to wipe if you're using 1.81. It does it for you. :)

You need to use the 1.7 utility for that. It has the option for going from a leak to the OTA. You could try Option 1 to fastboot straight to it but I don't know for sure, Matt, yes/no?

From leak 84+ should be fine to FB to it. 79 and below I am not so sure.

If I use this, it's going to have to be in Boot Camp via win7 on my MacBook pro...I've been told elsewhere that should be alright..

I recently upgraded to 215, will using Matt's utility to revert back to 211 leave me with fresh ICS as if my maxx was just taken out of the box?

Option 1 will put you to fresh out of box
Option 6 will put you back to the .211 kernel

I've read here and there and see terms like bootstrap and safestrap - i remember bootstrapping from my DX days..

I have never rooted...took device out of box, OTA to .211, then used stock recovery to flash .215 upgrade..

what process would I have to follow to get back to 'fresh out of box .211'? simply plug into Razr Utility and hit option 1? or is it more involved than that?

. R3Ds thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I didn't disable safestrap. I also now have the battery low message.

FWIW, I didn't disable safestrap before I fastbooted, and I didn't have any issues.

You will need to put the phone into "AP Fastboot" mode which is done by powering the phone off then pressing all 3 buttons (power, volume up and volume down at the same time) then when the menu pops up use volume down to scroll to "ap fastboot" and volume up to select it, then connect to the computer and choose option 1. Also make sure you install the drivers included in this utility before doing anything.

But if all you have done is the .215 from stock recovery you can follow all these instructions but do option 6 instead of 1 and this way you shouldn't lose any data, option 1 will totally wipe your phone.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll probably give it another day or so and then decide what to do. Reason i updated was I have been holding 2 bars of 4g near my house and it should be better than that- thought this would help.

As far as usage is concerned, I've been in battery for 4hrs and 45mins and I've been at 60% for a little while. How's that possible? Granted I've been using the phone, but I've been on wifi and doing nothing that heavy duty (tapatalk, light browsing, etc)..my screen always seems to be around 80% battery usage- is that normal?

Ahhhh, sorry - new owner, so much rambling and so many questions :(

Just wondering if there's a debloat out yet for 6.16.211......I don't use more than 50% of the apps installed. Is it safe to start deleteing apps using ROM toolbox? I'm rooted using Matt's Razr Utility 1.8. Thanks in advance!

Screen is the number 1 usage of battery, to give you an idea, I am running the Ikream 2.0 ROM and had my phone on for an 26-27 hours with 10 and a half of those hours spent streaming netfilx over wifi, if you don't need 4G (which you don't when your on wifi) you should either set up a smart action to disable data when connected to your wifi or use the app LTE OnOff to switch to CDMA auto (PRL), 4G is a major battery sucker.

Also keep an eye on your apps, when your not on wifi some apps (skype, and any VOIP type apps) will maintain a constant data connection which will slaughter your battery.

I got fortunate today and found a Maxx. Going to pick it up tomorrow. Going to give the wife my razr. I have the .214 on my razr, safestrap and running lkcream. I want to take it back to stock ICS, root and move it up to .215. Should I uninstall safestrap beforehand or am I safe just doing everything through 1.81.

Appreciate the feedback.
