Is the Download for 1.81 offline? Doesn't seem to be working for me.

I posted a link earlier where I was hosting it. It is still active.

done many times. not working.

yap, i put phone into AP fastboot. following the sequences on the DOS box :)
the problem is when it finish and i reboot my phone... my phone show some dead droid.
so i press both volume keys (the 1.7 help told me to)

now each time i boot my razr, it will show me nothing. only the black creen.
my just receive it last night razr is bricked now.

i'm gonna flash it with RDS. and i'll post the result here. lol

Go back to AP Fastboot (all the buttons) select recovery. If the dead Droid comes back, hit both volume buttons, then Wipe data and cache

Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

I tried this from rooted GB 6.12.173 and have the same problem. Installed 64-Bit Motorola Drivers on Windows 7, used Utility 1.81, then did step 1. After reboot, went to the wireframe droid screen, then another reboot to the "Motorola Dual Core Technology" splash screen, then a black screen. I went back to AP Fastboot and selected recovery, got to the dead Droid, then wiped data (factory restore) and then wiped the cache again for good measure. Reboot takes me to the same "Motorola Dual Core Technology" splash screen, then a black screen - same result as after step 1. Any suggestions?

When you see that flash let go of power button then hold it in again quickly while still holding the vol up and down

Personally I'd go into recovery from there since I'm not too well versed in your prob. When in recovery you will see an android guy laying down. press vol up and down to get into recovery options

Are you coming from .181 Gingerbread? If so, try the ICS 211 Fastboot Files we have with RSD. You can also try installing the 211 update file through the stock Moto recovery.

Ya, IIRC you have to already be on ICS to use the Fastboot utility. So its useful for downgrades or fixing softbricks already on ICS. If your still on anything older then ICS like GB then you had to use the fastboot files and SBF it.

You are welcome. How was the d/l speed?

To be honest, I started the DL then walked away from the computer for an hour or so. It was complete when I returned.

I've been having a problem that several other users have reported on this thread (but I haven't seen a solution that actually works)

I was having problems installing the ICS update through OTA so I decided to use Mattlgroff's 1.81. I went through #1 and everything went well and I rebooted my phone and the droid with the spinning wireframe in its chest showed up (someone mentioned it was ICS recovery I believe) after that it showed the motorola logo and then the screen went black. When force restarted (volume down + power) it would do the same thing, motorola symbol and then go black. I tried going into recovery (getting the dead android with "!" and holding vol +-) and then wiping data/cache and that didn't help. Any suggestions?

Note:
When it boots and goes to the black screen three drives appear on my computer. the first is the MotoCast installer and the other two are presumably the two SD Cards, but clicking on them on my computer simply tells me that the removable disk doesn't exist

I was at the time, but now that I've tried option one on 1.81 I'm not. I now tried option one on 1.7 but I can't boot into recovery, it tries and then takes me to the AP flashboot menu and says the following:

Invalid Flash Mode (S) (Boot Failure)
0A.6C
To return to normal mode - first press power key to power down

Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 0

Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable

Invalid CG OTV (CG: webtop): Invalid SP Data
Invalid CG HAB(CG: webtop, status: 0X0056)
Invalid CG OTV (CG: webtop)

Can I get back to gingerbread and then use 1.7?

What yiu see on screen indicates that you have bootloader from GB not ICS and your webtop is corrupted so you need to download version 1.6 of utility, unzip it than open command prompt with 'files' folder and while your connected with usb and shpwing the screen you posted just execute this command
moto-fastboot flash webtop grfs.img
and if completed succesfuly it will restore webtop which is important to have in case your battery is dying and you want to put your phone into battery charge only mode
