Go this the first 2 times, but smooth as silk the 3rd time

Before continuing, ensure USB debugging is enabled, that your
device is in any mode BUT Mass Storage, and your phone is connected via USB.

Press any key to continue . . .

Press any key to continue . . .

Now rooted with 214.
Just got Droid last week (coming from Palm Treo long ago, then interlude with simple phone for 2 years. I did hang in the PSP maxconsoles custom firmware crowd years ago, so wasn't new to flashing.)
Thanks Matt!

I'm not playing with custom ROMS yet- but wanted some of the root only features in apps I downloaded to work.

Nobody knows for sure until Verizon actually does it.

My hunch is that this will not be released, just given the timing and that there aren't any glaring problems with .211. I think they will go through a few more revs before they consider it substantial enough for a Service Release. Once again, just my opinion.

I strongly feel positive that we will soon see an update..I read they are aware of battery and or data etc on some devices. I'm not saying they will be but I read they are working on it and may be a month before we do if we do...hmmmI don't sound too sure do I? Lol anyway if you google it you'll surely find the topics..I still feel personally we will soon see an update not only from reading but its usually common. ( does usually common make sense?) Lol peace..

i have been playing with both the .214 and .211 kernel updates. i went back to the .211 kernal and with my stock ICS root protected i did the comlete .214 update. no errors or problems. once it booted up i verifed both the build date and kernal date and I was on the complete .214 update. i un protected root and now have root back as well.

i never used that other option for flashing the .85 img. did I need too ??

Question, by applying the update from the .zip will we still be in line for future OTA updates ????

I'd install .215 instead of this.

You only needed to flash the .85 boot.img if you wanted to root using the old method, then flash the .214 boot.img. Now that there is a working 4.0.4 method and since you kept root, you don't need to.

For future updates, you'll need to either use the downgrade zip or fast boot back to .211

thank you thank you thank you!!

to clarify, i have a rooted ics razr maxx running the stock 6.16.211 deodedexed rom. to update to .214, i use the droidrazrrootleak214, run the program and option 3, flash 6.16.214 boot.img to update to .214. to return to .211, i rerun the program choosing option 4. is this correct?

again, thank you for the program you sent me.

.214 was just a kernel but .215 is an entire update so you'll have to flash it yourself in recovery.

Too soon for me to comment on battery life, will know tonight. However, speed, signal, and GPS lock is worth doing the upgrade to .215. Of course, that's just my opinion :-)
