I thank matt for the leak and the utility it worked great! But, this kernel was horrid on my battery. It hung on 1200 mhz. It would drop briefly but hang again. I tried reflashing wiping all a no go. Im back on. 211 now battery is back to normal.

Here is my battery experience so far. I'm on vacation in Montana with no 4G, so I've turned that off. I'm finding wifi connected or 3G don't matter much. My MAXX drains about 1% an hour on its own. When I'm on it with the screen on, it drains 1% roughly every 7-9 minutes. I had auto brightness on, and just turned it off a bit ago, and see no negative effect. It is now brighter than before, which I like. It seems the biggest thing is 4G and screen time, so when we discuss our battery life, specifics regarding those two should be given.

Here is all my information:
MAXX
214 kernel
Arctic 214 ROM

It seems to me that this kernel is better with screen off, and slightly worse with it on. I haven't been on Arctic long enough to say for sure though.

Never mind I was able to sneek my phone in long enough to tether and down load it.
Trying it out now.

thanks a million matt. i'm as current as can be and confident that i can return to .211 with one of your utilities should the need arise.

also, thanks to all who offered pointers and clarifications in the thread. yes, i read the op and the whole thread before asking any questions. and guess what, all my questions were answered and the process was a breeze. ;)

thanks again

I finally had to charge my Maxx. I installed .214 two days ago with 80% battery left. My battery life is now back to being as good as it was on GB, if not better.

So here's my opinion on the 214 kernel "fix."

Does it fix the "idle battery drain?" Yes

Does it still suck if you're actually using your phone? Yes

As long as I'm not using my phone, I get excellent battery life, but as I use my phone for checking tapatalk, I can literally watch my battery drain 5% every 15 minutes. I have an OG RAZR so obviously battery life is something that concerns me, also when I go to work I'm not around anything to plug my phone in for about 14 hours. The battery life on this phone is completely unacceptable and something needs to change. Regardless if it means me getting a different phone or whatever. I need a phone that lasts at least 16 hours on charge. I could easily get this with Black Widow ROM back in the Gingerbread days. Not anymore. As of now I get about 7 hours of battery with LIGHT usage, when before ICS I could get 21 hours with moderate usage. Unacceptable Moto.

Thanks Matt,

Worked just fine. I rooted my RAZR as well and have no rom on it (any suggestions..I see talk of arctic..)
My question is do i need to add Safestrap or Bootstrap from 1.7 even though I don't have a ROM yet?

And if I do use a ROM which of these do you recommend..

Thanks!!

Battery life really isn't that important to me. I drive a truck for a living. I always have my car dock an charger with me.

Sounds like you're going to need the Maxx, Hicks.. I too use my phone heavily for work purposes and people generally aggravating the $!#7 out of me with texts. I posted my battery stuff in this thread after .214, and I can say that .214 has helped me when using heavily, but I do have a Maxx. I busted 19 hours yesterday before she shut off completely. 13 hours was beating the piss out of it. As long as I can make it from 6AM until I get ready for bed, I am pleased. This leak seems to be better for that v/s .211. .209 in my opinion had the best battery life out of all the leaks.

Does it matter if we're in USB Mass storage or Media when we root .214?

So do we need to use the market fixer to find apps missing from the market? I can find the full version of med minder.

SPC, do you think it's a 4G thing? Did you try battery life using CDMA Auto PRL only? I've noticed my battery life is awesome on CDMA only =/

On a side note, just donated to you Matt. Thank you!

I only use 3G and wifi. No 4G unless I drive a few miles down the road.

HMM, I'm getting a sideload error for the /system/apps/browser.apk
any ideas on how I can fix that without reinstalling 211 all over again? I have installed Dolphin browser but that never got in the way of updates in the past.

Did you freeze or remove the stock browser?
