Its hard to beleive to have over 9 hours and still at 80%. Unless you not using it and running on 3G and wifi. Or the 9 hours is after an 8 hour nap........lol

No, actually I am on the phone with text messages, twitter, Facebook, email from two accounts and 4g all day.

Make sure you wipe cache. I wiped cache before and after install. By the way, I'm on a maxx.

Just to clarify after reading this thread (sorry im a little under the weather and this may have been answered already) if we are on stock 211 no root no custom rom just stock OTA 211 do we still need to use the kernal utility or can we just update zip file from moto recovery? thank you in advance.

You can just go straight to MotoRecovery with the .214 zip file on your sd card. Quick and easy, be sure to wipe the phone (facory reset) AFTER to clear everything.

I'm at 70% after 15+ hours with my Maxx on .214 and light to moderate use. It's discharging at about 2% per hour. About 1/2 of that is on WIFI and 1/2 on 4G.

FWIW, I didnt wipe anything other than cache, and everything is fine. IMO, a complete factory reset for a minor update isnt necessary.

If you're worried about battery life, get Lux auto brightness from the play store. Works way better than moto a/b...

Not sure how 211 was but on 214 it uses 300mhz more than 1.2ghz so guess it is saving battery.

Thanks for leak!

Thanks Matt the utility worked perfect to flash just the kernel for me. I also used the regular file and Motorecovery to update a coworkers phone last night. No problems/issues with either. I'm definately still a newbie at this too.......

For those like me who were nervous about updating here are the exact steps I took to success. First I'm coming from stock rooted 211. I downloaded option 1 from OP page and copied update to external sd card.
1. Download ota rootkeeper and make a backup of root.
2. Unfreeze all apps that i previously froze in titanium backup. (Bloatware)
3. Open ota rootkeeper app and temporarily unroot.
4. Power down phone.
5. Hold both volume buttons as well as power button to enter bootloader menu.
6. Scroll down to recovery option using volume down button.
7. Enter recovery by pressing volume up button.
8. Once android with exclamation point shows up, press both volume up & down buttons to enter moto stock recovery menu.
9. Wipe cache only
10. Choose install update from external sd card and let it update.
11. After update completes click reboot.
12. Once phone reboots go to settings>about phone, and now listed is 214 and kernel date is the 29th.
13. Open ota rootkeeper and click restore root.
14. Enjoy the new leak update.
Hopefully this helps anyone who wants to upgrade.

Hey Matt: Just want to say thanks for all the utilities you have provided for all of us Razr owners over the past few months. Your latest one for the .214 leak is no exception, worked like a charm as usual. So, I thought I'd send you a bunch of beers :-) Enjoy my friend, and thanks again for all your hard work :-)
