I have read about people having problems with the new update if they previously rooted their phones.

I just want to make sure updating with no problems is as simple as unrooting with voodoo and then flashing the stock recovery.Img

Should be. After you flash the recovery reboot into recovery to make sure it goes back to stock

I only disabled in the app menu. And the entitlement check.

Then as long as you can get to recovery it should work.

Just to follow up on the original post, I am rooted with PwnMyMoto 1.4.3. I have unfrozen everything, so I can unroot with VooDoo OTA rootkeeper and take the update? I am familiar with rooted phones with my previous Droids, but I've only had this Maxx for about two weeks now. I'm a little lost with the post above "After you flash the recovery reboot into recovery to make sure it goes back to stock." How do I do this step and verify it? When I boot to the AP Fastboot menu, I have Normal Powerup, Recovery, Factory, Barcodes, and BP Tools as choices. I have tried the normal and recovery modes, and I honestly don't see a difference. Both modes still have root access.

 

Sorry for so many questions for my first post on the board, but this is my only phone and I can afford to mess it up with this update. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

You have to fastboot flash the stock recovery. Once you do that when you click recovery on the menu it will bring you to tired Andy that is stock recovery. Which is needed to install the update.

And that is done with the House of Moto programs? From reading that post, I would flash with the keep data method, take the update and then reroot? Thanks for the reply and again, sorry that resulted in more questions from me...

I'm not educated in the house of moto sry , but if you have fastboot set up just put the recovery where ever you have it set up open command prompt and type fastboot flash recovery recovery.IMG

Well I don't remember a save stock recovery option when I rooted it. I'll go and reread that post and see what I can figure out.

You can take the stock recovery out of the fxz XML or it should be saved on the root of your SD called recovery-stock.IMG I believe.

It was quite simple. I just forgot to update before I flashed rockmymoto... So I had to do it again. I felt pretty dumb

Just read through everything twice before setting up the House of Moto and you should be good to go.

After you return to stock, you take the new OTA, then use the rockymoto root or whatever the new one's called.  It requires some adb work but if you follow the directions it should work.
