FWIW I decided to try dhacker's version that Tim linked in the early part of this thread. I have found that MMS, video playback, and camera all work for me. However, I don't like not having a thread or file location to check for updated files. That's one reason to stay with Tim.

So basically you are having difficulties adding widgets.. And have playback issue... Try clearing cache and fix permission.. I don't have those bugs.. Yet haha but I did lose YouTube playback once but I was trying to add sdcard mounting to camera...

well, I was able to install a different weather widget - so perhaps the issue is with the weather app.

I think DHacker updated the link in the OP in his thread on Rootz when he added a few fixes. So in total, I think he's published two builds. I haven't seen any references on any other forums to any of the updates for his 4.4 AOSP rom.

It's pretty much DD material for me except for the "33rpm"-like static.

Only other "problem" I've had is using JRummy's Ad Blocker. When it runs it gives me a system R/W error. Running the Mount System R/W script through Rom Toolbox Pro doesn't help and booting to TWRP and mounting system doesn't help.  It's not a deal breaker, but I've run into it on all of the 4.4 based roms. I know it's early development, so I'm not worried.

Only other thing I've noticed is some weird screen static/tearing mostly when closing out of the browser. Again, certainly not a deal breaker, just something I've noticed on a few 4.4 based roms.

Back to 10.1.3 for now, but eager to see the 4.4 development.

Some of these issues will most likely be addressed once the KitKat ota hits. I'm sure the new vendor blobs will take care of a lot of issues...including the flash of fuzz before the boot animation that has been present since 4.2.2 on our qcom devices.

Getting rid of that random glitch on boot up of device will be a glorious day. (Not that it's bothersome, just it'll be nice to have a sleeker boot. I imagine a lot of graphical glitches will be fixed when the OTA comes around for 4.4.)

I don't understand why folks are complaining about trivial aspects that have ZERO impact on anything.

I'm just thankful that folks are smart enough and kind enough to develop ROMs and share them with us.

I don't think folks are complaining. I think for the most part they're just providing feedback for the devs and other folks interested in trying out a particular ROM. In many cases, the devs ask for this kind if feedback in their OP. Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk

who said I was even complaining? Yes, the glitches I was referring to have zero impact on the ROM. I'm just saying once OTA (from Motorola) comes around, MANY of these "trivial" things will be fixed. Who wouldn't be happy about that? I'm sure even the ROM DEVELOPERS are happy about it.

Ya guys I was just pointing out out that it will be nice to have these missing binaries. To be completely honest i feel we are lucky to have a non nexus device that will be up to date with android.

I didn't keep it flashed very long, but once I find a feature I like I am willing to sacrifice others to keep it.

The test build is an OSE ROM built on 4.4, not a test version of the rom in this thread.

The camera appeared to work all the way around, but it was the apex launcher. I did a mostly-dirty flash (yes I am terrible) and was left with an unusable Google Now search bar in the middle of the homescreen. I also appear to be having an issue (possibly TWRP-related since that is when it started?) with not being able to write to my externalSD even in recovery mode. Am not sure if that is the same "known bug" but it doesn't seem like it would be.

I went back to my CM11 build backup because as an avid motorcycle rider one of my most appreciated features is the touchless voice commands which the OSE 4.4 build seems to be lacking.

Again, my apologies for not playing around with it too much, was really glad that the camera worked and disappointed that I couldn't do a TiBU of it (4.4 keeps whining about insufficient space with TiBU despite having 2.5 gigs free on both rom builds?) as no camera is my big disappointment of the CM11 build.

Keep up the good work devs and I will be happy to poke around and flash everything I see until I find the perfect build for me :)

For getting TiBU to make a backup, have u tried changing the backup folder location to "storage/emulated/legacy" under backup folder location, under preference in settinsgs menu. Worked for me.

figured out my issue.  I forgot that I was playing around with the developer options settings, and set apps to "Don't Keep Activities".  after unchecking this option, my force close issues have been resolved.

Does anybody have any issues with video playback on the testing OSE 4.4?

I noticed YouTube wasn't able to play videos yesterday when I tried.

I'm on the latest testing build.

for those that want to know, here is what I did:

1.) download and install LMT Launcher 2.0 from here:

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

(be sure to set as autostart).

2.) add this line to the build.prop: qemu.hw.mainkeys = 1

No I mean it's sweet looking. How did you get it to do that? Is it a 4.4 setting?

I mean even with that, it looks like it has its own separate color scheme.
