My last update was back in February. I have SS 3.05 (after about five hours of searching, I've finally found SS 3.60 that I plan on using to update my Safestrap).

My unsafe recovery is Android 4.0.4.

Do I have to somehow install a newer version of Android in order to udpate my ROM? And if so, how do I do that w/out losing ROOT and fubarring my phone? Are there any ROMs out that will let me use this older version of Android?

My old ROM is either Eclipse 1.2 or IcarusHD from about a  year ago.

I'd like to install Eclipse 5.1 or PAC Man or something of the like (one of the features I really love on my current ROM is the ability to just turn on my hotspot w/out any issues with Verizon, etc - and would like to keep that functionality.)

Any help would be appreciated!

No. Just use safestrap to place the rom in one of the slots as long as the ROM you're going to uses the Kernel you're on.

Or, while you're in the mood, just go ahead and update to 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. There is a root for 4.1.2 for the Bionic, so getting back rooted will be painless for you. You will need to remove the safestrap and everything else in order to OTA. If you have the zip file you may be able to flash without going back stock first, but you're probably going to need to go back stock, then OTA, then root, then SafeStrap again, then a new fresh clean rom.. Here is the link over to XDA with the Bionic 4.1.2 rooting procedure.
