I recently upgraded from my Droid Razr to Droid MAXX. I love the phone, but I miss my car dock for the Razr. From what I have learned on line the only MAXX specific car dock is the Griffin one. I surmise that is not a quality product and it will also not carry audio to my car sound system through my auxiliary jack. Does anyone know of a different dock that will both connect the sound and also charge? I miss plugging in my phone and enjoying my music while I drive. Please help.

I saw another dock just the other day but can't remember where or the name. Give me a little bit and I will do some searching again and see if I can find it.

I saw a guy on the Droid MAXX Google+ community page say that he got one of these and loves it. Apparently it even works with the Otter Box case on the phone. I'me not sure if this is something that you are looking for and I will keep digging to see what else there is out there. I am really shocked at the lack of accessories for this device though.

I am in the same boat just ordered a Maxx and now finding out accessories are slim to none. I have the car dock for the RAZR and I will try to mod that to fit the Maxx. The griffin does have a built in USB connector so when you put the phone in the dock it is at least powered.
Have you thought about a blue tooth adaptor to use in the audio jack of your radio? You could then stream your music via BT.

Update... I just posted this on the Maxx Google + Page

Griffin Made 4 Moto Car Dock... Don't bother!
Just received the dock not an hour ago and inserted the phone. car mode started up as promised and the home screens switched to landscape mode just like with the Razr. I was not impressed with how difficult it was to insert the phone and get the usb lined up with the phone but it went in. I tried to remove the phone from the dock and pulled the usb connector wires and all right off the dock... FAIL Motorola FAIL Griffin.
I am now looking over the old Razr dock to modify to fit the Maxx.
This junk is going back to Verizon and Moto, Google and Griffin are getting E-mails.

Larger one for using with a case:

Would love to see if a dock could be made to work with the wireless charging...

You could probably convert a Tylt charger to a car dock.

I missed out on his kickstarter campaign but this looks really promising:

Its a wireless car charger/dock.  First I've ever seen.

To me there's no point in getting a car dock if you have to use 2 hands to insert the phone and get it charging.  Manually plugging the thing in (on any phone) is just dumb and a pain in the xxx.  Anyhow, I tried the griffon dock.  Total junk.  Broke in the second week.  Very flimsy build and design.  I'll probably get one of the airdocks so that, from now on, the same dock works for all my future, wireless-charging (qi) phones.
