It's a hard lesson to learn the hard way. Root has become harder and harder to achieve. It was nothing short of a miracle when jcase rooted it the first time. Now, it may be a few days, a few weeks, a few months, or possibly even never before root is achieved again. OTA updates are a double edge sword. They bring fixes and improvements. But they plug security holes....root exploits fall into this realm. I got out of the game of trying to root consumer devices. It's a losing battle. Your best bet is to start a bounty and hope for the best. If root is truly important to you, then going forward I'd advise buying only dev editions (if you're stuck with vzw) or GPE/Nexus devices.

There is an unreleased root method. Supposedly its being saved for the next big update.

That's a VERY big risky game to play. There's not guarantee that whatever hole they've found won't get patched when the next update is released anyway. Their assumption in holding it is that they won't be searching for new exploits themselves internally.

????? What do you mean won't get another update? LOL. It's not even 2 months old yet. Of course it'll get another update.

I cant find the article again now. I just happened across it while searching.
Something to the effect of " barring any real issues this might be the last update the moto x sees"

Not any chance in hell of that happening. You're not even on 4.3 for crying out loud. LOL!

I will indeed take that to heart. Thanks.Just a warning on 4.4. It enables some pretty tight security if you like root don't take it until they've confirmed just how locked down it really will be. We've been saying for a longtime that root exploits are going to get harder. 4.4 may make that a reality.
