I had some issues with my phone when i decided i would take t completely back to stock using matt's droid HD utility. well something went wrong and it kept writing the "system" partition over and over again. i was lucky enough to be able to keep the rom that i was currently running. so i still have a working phone aside from it coming up with the "flash failure" screen every time i try to reboot my phone. ive heard its a very simple fix... just flash something through ap fastboot and it will clear the error. however i dont know how to flash anything via adb. i tried using a boot logo changer and it gives me the error "invalid partition name logo.bin FAILURE (remote failure). i'm stuck at this point. the phone works but its an annoyance every time i have to restart my phone. I'm fairly good when it comes to android but im a total noob when it comes to adb and all that.

Have you tried using RSDlite instead of the utility? Sometimes it will work where the utility fails....
BTW what system version are you on? .... are you locked or unlocked?....
Also, what boot logo changer did you use?.... there are some that have not been updated with the correct fastboot files for the HD .... thus the failure for that
HD tappin' .... hillbilly style!!

Ah, then you didnt read the boot logo thread....there is an error in the command in the script.
put phone in fastboot, then run the command from your pc:
fastboot flash logo thelogofilehere
where the logofilehere is the location and filename of your new logo

I am having a similar issue. I have an XT926 on 9.18.79 and rooted my phone successfully using Motochopper 1.3. From there I wanted to proceed to installing a custom ROM like Cyanogen, but I misunderstood the process and attempted to flash without unlocking the bootloader. It failed, and now I'm in the same situation that jminer509 described. My phone boots to AP Fastboot every time and says "Fastboot Reason: Flash Failure", so now I can only get it to boot by going into the boot menu and selecting Normal Power Up.
With my bootloader being locked (with no way to unlock it of course being on 9.18.79), will I be able to resolve this issue by trying to flash a new logo as described above, or is there something else I need to do?
Thanks

You should be able to. As soon as something fails to flash it throws up a flag. The flag stays until something flashes successfully.
Worst case is you grab the matching version fastboot files for your device from sbf.droid-developers.org then head to the House of Moto - follow the instructions using save data and you should be good to go.

Thank you for this post ryn_2 -- your strategy of re-flashing the logo to get unstuck from fastboot mode worked brilliantly.
