I recently unplugged my phone before bed and it said that it was still charging. I restarted it to see if that would fix the problem as I am running hyperdrive latest. it did not. so when I plugged it back in the charging icon went off. so now when I plug my phone up I have to wiggle the cord back and forth to try to get it to charge. I was irate as I have only had it about five months so I took it into a Verizon store to see if they could get me a warranty replacement. the guy looked with a magnifying glass and came back to tell me that my charging port was corroded and that it would not be covered under warranty. I love my phone and I have always been extremely careful with it. I asked what would cause such a thing and he replied water damage. WTF? how can I have water damage if the little sticker that shows water damage in the back is not changed. so I called tech support to see if they would send me a warranty replacement and it is on its way.
so I am asking the community:
1: have any of you ever heard of this happening and how to prevent it
2: should I try and odin back to stock first? I am not sure if my computer will see it but I don't want them to try to say it was my fault for rooting. it is a hardware issue and therefore has nothing to do with root access.
3: how should I get them to cover this as a warranty issue if it wasn't my fault. all was fine and then bam it will not work anymore. kinda makes me mad. sorry for the rant but I had to explain myself first.
