WARNING: You MUST read this FULLY before using it.  If you do not, you may brick your phone or worse.  I am not responsible for what this does to your phone.  You accept ALL responsibility for using this.

Mission Statement:

First thing's first.  What the hell is this?  It's a script for *UNLOCKED* phones that have custom recovery to install root using the ADB sideload mechanism.  Again, this is for UNLOCKED phones ONLY, and you MUST have custom recovery available for your phone.

NOTE: Does NOT require use of House of Moto...can be used stand alone.

Download:

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

Installation:

o) Extract the zip file to a folder with no spaces in the path

o) IF you need to have custom recovery installed for you, add your twrp OR cwm recovery img file to the recovery folder.  This is ONLY necessary if you don't already have custom recovery flashed to your phone.

o) Koush's Univeral ADB driver can be installed so that your phone will be detected in ADB sideload mode.  This is DIFFERENT than normal ADB mode.  You are responsible for making sure your phone can be detected in ADB sideload mode. (The installer is in the ADB_USB sub-directory)

o) Optionally update the SuperSU zip file in the supersu directory with the latest from here:

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

NOTE: To install this into the House of Moto, extract the root folder inside the zip into the HouseOfMoto folder.

Usage:

o) Run the run.bat and follow directions

o) If you added a TWRP or CWM recovery img file to the recovery folder, you will be asked if you want to flash it. This is only necessary if you don't have custom recovery on your phone already.

NOTE: If it's installed into the House of Moto, a root option will appear on the menu

Well, if you have an unlocked device then yes.  If the bootloader is locked, then no, use what Kaos linked to.  This is only for those phones with custom recovery.

I saw where if you stick the TWRP ask in the folder, it will ask if you need to flash this. Does the phone have to be rooted? I know with Matt's utilities, it requires the phone to be already rooted. Is that still the case with this utility or will it flash TWRP without me having to rooted yet? It's kind of a chicken and the egg type of thing. I have an unlocked phone, I want to apply the FXZ (when it's available), use this tool to apply TWRP and then root, but TWRP under Matt's utility requires the phone to be already rooted. Well, as we all know, this latest OTA doesn't have a root exploit nor does it look like there might be one, so I'm not sure if I have to go back to the previous OTA, then root, apply TWRP and then use Voodoo Root keeper to save root and then apply the latest OTA? I'd really like to avoid all that if possible. I'm liking the latest OTA only because at this point, it appears to have a much better radio in it. At work, before this OTA, I was lucky to get 1 bar if at all for 4g. Outside of the building, it worked great (31-story building in downtown Columbus, OH). Now, I'm getting 3 bars, sometimes 4 with this latest OTA, but battery life will tell me whether it's worth keeping it on stock or going back to stock Eclipse which had GREAT battery life. Thanks again for the tools you provide and the help you provided me a month or so ago when I first got my RAZR HD. You've been a tremendous help, as has everyone else here since I arrived with my OG RAZR MAXX. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4

This tool does not require you to be rooted to work.  It uses fastboot to flash your recovery img.  So, just drop twrp or cwm (whatever you use) in the directory and it'll autodetect it and ask if you wanna flash it.  That's all there is to it.

Awesome job once again. So easy to root now with an unlocked bootloader. This with your House of Moto Tools make life SO easy now if I want to flash back to stock to do some testing.

Keep up the great work!

Grab that and delete the 1.65 zip in the root directory and replace it with 1.69.

The only problem I ran into was about the recovery. I kept getting file not found. Opening your RUN batch file, I learned it was looking for a recovery image named either twrp.img or cwm.img. Easy fix there. You might consider clarifying that in the OP. Otherwise, a very handy tool, especially when added to the fantastic House Of Moto tool.

Also, I was wondering, wouldn't it be possible to pull the stock recovery.img from somewhere and flash that the same way?

I don't have a version of the root script made for mac/Linux. You'll have to flash your custom recovery manually and either sideload or flash supersu in recovery.

However, if you grab the house of moto zip, and look at the formatting of the HouseOfMoto.sh ..... then you should be able to use the files and commands that are in this one (the run.bat) ...... hopefully that makes sense
