What does that mean?

It means you didn't read the warning and bricked your phone. Now you need to go read and learn how to use an FXZ to restore it.

my phone is working fine. I talked to my boyfriend this morning and my daughter is playing a game on it now...I am new at this, but from my understanding, a bricked phone wouldn't be able to do any of that. what else could it be?

I keep getting the pre flash validation failed; remote failure. On a different post regarding the Root Script/Utility (July 24, 2013), there are rooting instructions w/ links for the zip files needed. The instructions call for an item to be extracted from the zip and then "...flashed using the AP flash mode: fastboot flash boot boot.img." I have read several threads and been on google for 2 days and I have no idea how to "flash" anything. HELP!!!! Por favor!

Where are you getting the message in bold then?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I think when I downloaded the zip file I was supposed to extract the first file (boot.image) from it and, per the instructions, "...flash the file using AP flash mode: fastboot flash boot boot.image ". Then reboot and run motochopper. Only I didn't bc I have no idea what that means.

Well if you can't even tell me where you're receiving the message you said you were getting, I don't think I'm able to help on this one.

The failure message happens during rooting. It starts fine, then point where it says something about a boot file not recognized or found then I get error message "pre flash validation failure". It waits for device, reboots, deamons then it's done. I would try it again & get a pic of the screen, but I don't want to try again and mess up something. But the failure message is what made me think I was supposed to flash that file. It's the only step I skipped bc I didn't know how.

What system version are you on? 4.1.2 is not the answer I want. The specific build. 9.18..... what? Check system settings, about phone.

SIGH. So what I said about you ignoring the warning completely applies. The method you are attempting to use, had you been "able to follow the directions completely", would have bricked your phone because it DOES NOT APPLY to your version of Android. Which is why there is a very big warning on that page. IOW, stop what you're doing and use a root method that works for that specific version of Android before you do end up with a bricked phone.

I'm guessing you'll probably ask for how to root that version next. In the interest of being done with this thread:

Im having a similar issue when i try to boot my Maxx HD. it goes straight to the fastboot screen and the only way to boot normally is to use the volume buttons and use the "normal boot" option and boot that way. this would be an acceptable workaround, except for the fact that once android boots, about twenty seconds after it shows the lockscreen, it powers itself off and restarts back into fastboot.... is there anything i can do to repair my phone?...hopefully without having to loose any data?
-Ive also tried booting into safe mode with no success and all the other options available through the volumes menu..except "factory"... any help would be greatly appreciated

You are using the wrong fastboot . It needs to parse the system due to it's size.
