is there a way to offer both a normal and transparent version? i noticed that several apps will not be transparent, including the notifications bar. some apps don't display well with that and having the normal black background is better for me. just wondering.

How do you mean? The statusbar will not be transparent particularly due to the reason you mention.

For the most part yes with a few small changes. I decided to incorporate google now which you don't have unless you've installed it separately. The only other difference is a few updated G-apps... which you probably had updated already anyway.

I hate to ask this every update, but is the lockscreen music control fixed?
