Hotplug is a different governor that shuts down one core when not needed to conserve battery. Its not necessary, but it can help with battery life.

I've asked this question a couple of times in other threads, perhaps you might know the answer. What is the difference between the hotplug governor and the CPUsleeper app that many people seem to be using at the moment? It is my understanding that they perform the same function which is to turn off one core during times of low CPU usage. Wouldn't that make using both hotplug governor and the CPUsleeper app redundant? Thanks in advance.
