Hi,

unfortunately i updated to JB 4.1.2. i was rooted prior to this with bootloader unlocked on ICS.

I cant unlock my bootloader now, but is there any way to root without unlocking bootloader?

If your bootloader was unlocked, it should be still unlocked, no?

I think the bootloader has been locked again after the OTA update. I tried to see if i could unlock it vis the officla Motorola bootloader site but it tells me my device cant be unlocked when I input the generated string from DOS prompt.

Can I check to see if its actually locked or not?

Once it's unlocked, it shouldn't be possible to lock it again.  Boot into your fastboot screen and see if it still says unlocked.

I did boot into fastboot and it says "secure" which I am guessing is locked. I retried motoapocalypse and motochopper and they both fail

hey there

I was able to root my moto razr i without unlocking the bootloader.

here's the thread; it's written in german but you'll probably be good with google translation :)

http://www.android-h...-bl-unlock.html

It works fine now; only one problem. external sd card is not primary, but I think it has nothing to do with rooting....

ask if you need more details

cheers, roy

Look up "Safe Root" on this forum or XDA, this has been discussed extensively.
