I tried both fast boot and in normal mode. I've used Matt's utility before with no issues. Something is going on now tho and I can't get adb to see my device and it's driving me mad!

I understand that I hate when I cant get something to work!!! And also I said in my post before are you running in admin or not? Have you tried installing Moto cast maybe the drivers will help somehow??

I just bricked my phone after-trying to install i got a system about so i tryed to reboot the phone now all i get is the red motorola screen and i cant do turn it off to run the razr utility

Have you tried without admin mode and unzip to desktop double click lol?

Man thats wierd I cant imagine that your ota would really be any different as far as rooting goes?? Its the same software?!

Issue is running it in the wrong place. Extract zip to desktop and run as admin.

You know I do remember running it from the desktop on 1.6 but this time 1.7 worked from my download folder when I redid the drivers. I am going to root today and I'll move it to the desktop before I do. Thanks for all you have done!!! I had issues with one of the google programs failing on install and the home and search button not working but after I followed your advice of deleting the cache and data, rebooting, and all worked well. Thanks again!! Beer coming your way!!

Excuse the newbie question but I am coming from an HTC EVO and pretty familiar with rooting and flashing roms on that phone. This is my first motorola. I am on a stock Razr system version 6.12.181. I have not done anything to my phone. So I still need to run this utility and select option 1 or just flash the zip file from recovery? Step by Step newbie guide would be greatly appreciated and warrants beer rewards =D

there are guides and steps and wallkthroughs posted all over the place...take 20 minutes and read them before asking for a spoon-fed walkthrough. the utility has steps already if you follow them and the op it will work.

if you don't know what you are doing how did you get 84 installed on your phone? and again....there are step by steps and guides all over the place. I know its hard to miss those threads named "Install Guide", etc.

OK I can't wait for ICS any longer, going to give the 1.7 Utility a shot. I've reviewed Matt's instructions and help thread. A couple of points are not clear: 1 - the utility itself should be ran on your desktop? 2 - should CWM or safestrap or bootstrap already be installed? 3 - does step 1 of the utility install the zip or should I install that from recovery? 4 - do we need to run all of the steps listed? I'm on rooted GB 2.3.6. I already have Voodoo OTA root keeper installed with root temporarily disabled, and I previously uninstalled safestrap and removed recovery. So, in this scenario, which steps do I need to complete and in what order? Thanks in advance. Can't wait to get my tasty ICS!
