This all worked (util 1.6) on my last razr but I had to get a factory replacement and I just can't get it working for some reason.

Just keep on trying, my friend. It's probably going to end up being some little something you're forgetting or overlooking or, simply haven't realized you need to do yet. That's what happened with me. Once it worked though, it worked flawlessly. :)

Edit: It can't hurt to run as admin but, it shouldn't be necessary. I only say this because I'm still trying to think of another possible problem he could be having.

Tried to update from .210 twice with no luck. I'm pretty sure it is something I am doing but I need someone to verify. Once I start running the utility option 2 it does some things and tells you to hit any bottom once the screen comes back on. It does that twice but after the second time I hit any button and it does nothing. I let my phone sit there for ten minutes and nothing ever happened. Is that the end of the program or should it tell me when to boot into recovery? If thats not the end why won't it run any further than that? Do I need to run as an admin?

I think I finally got it to work. I tried to run as ADMIN but when trying that the utility couldn't recognize my device. Closed out utility, switched usb ports on my laptop, opened utility again and this time seems to working great. Must have a usb port that doesn't want to cooperate.

When it completes it should reboot the phone. I havent used the utility yet so not sure what your prob may be. I've been sitting on all the files and doing a lot of reading about other peoples probs.

Ok, before I use this utility, can someone just confirm a few things for me? I keep seeing random people get errors, and I just want to make sure I'm not in the same boat when I attempt to update to .211

Since I've gotten my RAZR MAXX, all I've done was root, go to .79 ICS leak, root, and go back to .181 stock. As of now, I am not rooted and on .181 stock. I am copying the .211 update to the root of my SD card as we speak. Are there ANY other steps that I need to take prior to using the utility? I don't want to run into those sideload packages errors others are running to. Also, I have the Motorola Drivers, so I should be good on that.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

While in AP fastboot I'd double check device manager and make sure ADB interface is there.
EDIT: also update the drivers using the files in the utility

Sounds like you're good to go, man. You're scenario is the same as mine was before I went to 211. The only issues I encountered were, a) having to move the unzipped utility to a different spot before it would see my phone... and b ), I had to figure out on my own that if you want to do ANYTHING from within Moto recovery, you have to press volume up and down simultaneously, to bring up visible text. :)

Just tried this ... worked like a charm ... Thanks Matt

Now I just finished reinstalling all my apps with Ti Backup.

So wait, going from .181 to .211 with this utility will wipe everything? I thought this only happened if you used the "wipe data" option? Why are you having to reinstall everything? That's something I definitely don't want to have to do.

Holding off until I can get this and my previous post confirmed.

Is this the case with updating to .211 via OTA and Matt's Utility, or just the utility?

Just the utility. Your data should remain intact via OTA

Yeah, there is really no way around wiping everything in a situation like this. You may as well just bite the bullet and get it over with. ;) And thanks for remembring to mention the drivers, Nitewolf! I almost totally forgot to remind him of that important piece of info! :-D

Edit: Scratch that first comment. I had forgotten that you had already reverted to 181 and set it all back up. Yeah, in your case, the OTA may be the way to go, if data loss is an issue for you. :)

follow all directions including wiping. Shortcuts/skipping steps are probably the main reason so many are getting errors

I guess I don't necessarily mind reinstalling everything one more time, lol. I apologize for all the questions, I just want to avoid all potential problems as others are experiencing.

Why appologize? It's smarter to ask and be sure. There are no dumb questions.

lol! It's not a problem, man! And, I don't know exactly how long you've been in the android community but, it's quite easy to find yourself at a point where there is always "one more time"! :D
