Ok thanks. Just looking to see what is the best option for me. Im currently rooted eclispe safestrap, My nonsafe is stock. I just got the option to download via ota. I figure if i go ahead and download the ota and use root keeper i might be good... Thoughts?Was on stock rooted 181.

No you do not. You will lose root after the OTA update. However, you can use Matt's utility to regain root access.

Sorry for the newbee questions. I do not want to wipe my data. Will doing option #1 and then #9 simply update to 6.16.211? Is #1 and #9 the correct options I want to do? Will that wipe my data?

I forgot to make a backup in safestrap before I started flashing roms... Can I just run option #2 again and start over?

Thanks for all your help Matt. My razr is on 6.12.181.xt912.Verizon.en.US with root and safestrap. I've been reading through this thread and it sounds too easy to be true, but is all I need to do is run option 1 to update to ICS. I have downloaded the ics zip file and put it on my sd card.

I am installing from update from SD right now. It has been stuck on "Patching boot image..." for about 20 minutes now. The progress bar is stuck at about 95%....is this normal.?

If it were me I would. Other folks may think differently. Remember that once you take the OTA or side load it etc, there is no going back to GB.

Well after a hiccup (my fault, in my excitement forgot to wipe data/cache...lol)...no worries, reboot into recovery, wipe, wipe, install, root, voodoo, safestrap... butter

I would say no! I just went through it and it went past that step in about 5 seconds. It is one of the last steps before completing.I am installing from update from SD right now. It has been stuck on "Patching boot image..." for about 20 minutes now. The progress bar is stuck at about 95%....is this normal.?

I am on version 75 (the first ICS leak). You said on twitter that I should go with Option 1 but I am not on Gingerbread, I am on ICS (first one). I wouldn't use Option 2 instead? Just want to make sure before I start flashin.

Ok for ppl on a ics build follow my instructions and it will go 100% smooth!
This is all done with matts utility 1.7!!!
1) fastbootback to 181 "yes things will fail, relax" let it run when compleate it will go to the android guy and sgow a progress bar "hit both volume + and - . This will show you whats its updating.
2) after it updates wipe data and cache!
3) Hard reset volume down and power. Then hold volume down quickly while pressing power a few times, this will get you in AP fastboot mode.
4) Flash the 211 boot.img. Now hit power then get back into stock recovery and WIPE CACHE!!! WIPE CACHE!! WIPE CACHE DID I MENTION WIPE CACHE?
5) Im sure you put the 211 update zip on your phones ext-SD right? Good! In stock recovery install update zip from SD. Choose the 211 THAT YOU PUT THERE
Let it run
6) Profit and thank DDX and MATT! !!!!
7) Root ics if desired
Now you are on path, and the world is still spinning. Kiss your mom or dog whatever. Have fun and tweet i love Batman and DDX @DroidRzr!

RAZR utility 1.6 runs and launches fine on my PC...however when trying to start the 1.7 version I get through the first yellow window to the press any key to continue.... and when I do so a brief flash of the blue text screen comes up but the application closes. Can I install the 211 using bootstrap or somehow get 1.7 working? Any assistance would be much appreciated. BTW I have Safestrap installed
I had this same problem. All I did was extract the zip to my desktop. Re-download and try again?

Okay so I am on the .210 leak and have been trying for 2 days following all the instructions and from what I observe I am still on .210 and running the .211 kernel no matter what directions or instructions I use I am still getting to status 7 errors is it possible to be on the 210 leak and be running on the 211 kernel? Any type of help would be much appreciated thank you so much!
