BatMan,
I'm in awe of your work. Just sent you a bit a beer. Thanks so much for the hard work you do and you need to get some sleep. I'm tying to do that myself but I'm thinking tonight 2:18 in the morning of trying to do the ICS install. I was getting the sideload errors several days ago and I'm a bit leary but I see that doing the wipe date/cache thing seems to work. Gezz, sleep, flash, sleep, flash. Oh the decisions at this hour!
Cheers to you BatMan

I am a little curious, and had to sign up to ask some questions before I undertake this adventure. Being like the rest of you, my patience is/has worn out for ICS, and now I find myself downloading Matt's utility and the update. I want to give this a try, but have had real crap experience in the past with things of this nature (my Droid x2, Droid 2 Global, and Samsung Fascinate all got bricked). Is this as "point and click" as everyone is making it sound? Or is this something that can be buggered up rather easily?

If you follow the directions, yes......it's that easy

I followed the directions to the T, wound up soft bricking. Had to use the 1.4 Utility to restore the phone. Then did a OTA .181. THEN the 1.7 utility worked. Currently flashing the ICS update now. I will be donating Matt. Guys like you make it possible for impatient persons, such as myself, the satisfaction of having it now. Thanks.

Tried to run this last night coming from .210 with no luck. Got the error 7 message. Going to try again tonight after wiping data and cache a few times. Hopefully I can get it to flash.

I was having tons of problems with this. I used the 1.7 utility and did option 1. I then did option 2 right after that. After option 2 I wiped EVERYTHING. Cache, dalvik, the whole 9 yards. I then got into stock recovery and loaded the .211 update from SD. FINALLY, worked like a charm and I am rockin .211 with no glitches what so ever.

THANKS MATT!!! what a great set of tools.

I am also having this problem. I'm going through option 1 again to see if that helps. If there is any other options/things to try let me know. I'm sure other people are experiencing this too.

I had this problem and fixed it! You were not going through the number 2 option all the way. It takes some time, and every single time you see "click any button to continue after the screen comes back on", you must hit something and wait until it goes through. That'll fix it.

Does anyone know a solution for using the Utility in Linux other than running Windows in a virtual box?

For anyone having issues make sure you're using a USB 2.0 port ... I had nothing but errors and failures when it was hooked up in my USB 3.0, but when I changed ports, it worked perfectly.

I spent all day yesterday stuck with a flash error due to using USB 3.0 on a new-to-me laptop.

Thanks for the reminder....this should be repeated again and again....I just did a search of this site for the term USB 2.0 and got no hits.

i was following instructions to the letter and kept getting the status 7 error. tried several of the suggested fixes with no joy. this morning i RE-booted the computer and RE-extracted the 1.7 utility and everything worked like a charm. i dunno. i think the utility wasn't fully extracted. option 1 took a lot longer this morning than it did last night. i need a new computer...

thanks to matt and all who provided solutions.

I power up with power and down vol.It goes to AP screen with message to Press Power to go to normal mode and says locked. It don't give me the option menu like your screenshot. Please give me a step by step to get to your menu.Im not rooted now and reset phone to factory before downloading the update and moving it to sd card then downloading utility.zip and booting into AP.

GENIUS! I don't post much because I usually read an entire thread first because I know the question I have has been answered a million times"

Thank you Matt, you make me feel like an Android Superhero's Sidekick LMAO

was on Rooted Safestrap GB .181

downloaded the 1.7 utility
Placed the .211 on SD card

Booted phone in AP Fastboot (whoever reads this and doesn't know, while phone is powered off you hold both volume buttons then press the power button to turn on, release everything and volume down to AP Fastboot, the hit volume up to execute it)

ran option 1 from 1.7 following prompts

rebooted phone it came into recovery automatically.. android getting surgery, cute. (press both Volume Buttons to bring up menu)
of course I tried to install the .211 without a wipe... FAIL
Wiped and Rebooted into recovery again, and update went without any issues...

I know this is all a repeat.. but probably necessary

Much love!

Matt-- I can't thank you enough! You are the bodhisattva (Buddhist term for a person of deep compassion) of the cyber realm. The key for me, after running step #1, was renaming the Blur .211 file on my SD-ext root to "update.zip". That got me through the error 7 problem. Of course, doing a few data wipes may also have helped.

Many thanks again!!!

Thanks Matt. Got the OTA earlier this morning from VZW. Used your utility to root. Worked like a champ! Thanks for all of your hard work bro!
