I have moto drivers and it is recognized in device manager and the phone is set to debugging and MTP.
The issue is when I go to select option 3 and press a key to begin, it simply says waiting for device... and everything is connected and all checkboxes checked... ideas?
This is all following a successful install of .211 via this thread
EDIT: Wiped and reflashed .211; root successful, thanks!

As stated:
Copied ICS .211 to ext. SD Card
Updated motorola drivers - included in utility v.17
Option 1 in Utility v 1.7
Reboot into recovery
However- I did a wipe and factory reset
Wipe cache
apply update
Maybe the factory reset and cache wipe were not needed, but easy enough to reinstall a few apps. I decided to go ahead and root using your ICS 4.0.4, installed Voodoo and Safestrap.
I just recently came from a Droid X to the Razr and am learning the new Razr rooting apps and methods. I was on an ICS build for the Droid X and certainly appreciate the Razr Maxx battery life.
I'll be buying Mr. Batman a beer...

Thank you for these awesomely easy to use utilities ....
I am stock. 181 rooted... is there any clear advantage to waiting for the OTA update versus using this utility to skip the wait?
If you get the OTA update you won't lose the data and apps currently on your phone...

Quick question for the better people than me on here...
I'm on .181 stock, rooted, with the bloatware apps that could be removed using the stock uninstaller (like Let's Golf and the others) uninstalled, and a good number of other apps frozen using Ti.BackUp. I have done OTA updates on my phone before (even after rooting), but this time, I didn't get any of the text messages from VZW telling people that an update was coming to their phones. This has me thinking that, even though I have done OTA before, maybe this time it's not coming to me, hence why I'm looking at this.
If I'll be able to do the normal OTA thing (protect root with Voodoo, update, restore root), I'd rather go that route; however, if this won't be a possibility for me due to the apps I have frozen / uninstalled, I'll go through with using Matt's awesome program.
Basically, does anyone know if the OTA update is coming to me (albeit later)? Whenever I check for the update manually, my phone tells me that there's no updates available.

Is anyone missing the 4 point lock screen after this update? I had it previously but now i don't have it. Anyone else?
I can't even get my phone to lock after I put this on it. Everything else is fine.

Should work fine. You don't have to be rootedHello all, another noob question that will probably get on your nerves but I am rather new to this, and was wondering if method 1 on the Utility works for Unrooted Droid Razr Maxx On System Version 6.12.181 (Stock), with the Update file on the root directory of the SD card. The part that has me iffy on doing this is the unrooted part of my question.
Thanks!

UPDATE: Factory reset fixed the home/search/lockscreen issue for now.
I remember having this issue back in the day when we were porting ICS Nexus roms over using the 2.6 GB kernel and the home and search buttons would stop working, but still provide haptic feedback.

Does this utility root the just-released ICS OTA?
The update file in the OP is the one released in OTA.

So since I received the OTA, this utility will root it correct? Just making sure, as I'd really hate to risk bricking my phone an hour after receiving the OTA!The update file in the OP is the one released in OTA.

I can only speak for option 1 on the Utility, as I did it (Just an hour or two before it got pushed it would seem...), and it did not root my device.
