I had that same thing happen with fastboot the other day. It couldn't read emsstorage, so it just skips that step. No big deal, since I meant to do it that way and accidentally used a full wipe xml/batch file. You could always just boot, format internal, and then factory reset. I know, it's longer that way. But it works the same in the end
Yup. That's exactly right. Other than taking it out of the script there's nothing I can do to fix it. Anyone who's troubled by it, go edit FULL_xt875.bat and remove the emstorage line.

The emstorage img. But it's only used to reformat the internal storage partition. Iow it should be 0 bytes as it should be empty when you init to factory defaults. No idea why it won't flash but that's a moto problem not a script problem.

Does the terminal shell in Safestrap 3.x support dd? I could wipe internal SD from ss, then dump the drive to a binary. Repackage that with the fxz and distribute it

Wouldn't work. All files in the FXZ are signed. Even that stupid file. It'd fail to flash. Moral of the story, if you need to wipe internal storage by using emstorage, use RSD. LOL

How to set up:o) If root exists for your device, add the files to the root folder. Make sure run.bat and/or run.sh exists.

Ah ha, now partly understand, but that raises another question to ask.
I have motochopper 1.1 so did a search for motochopper 1.3 per your post. Only thing that turned up was motochopper_1_3_xt907.zip .... and its mentioned this version should only be used on a b/l locked system version 98.18.78. The xt907 1.3 version includes a couple additional folders (boot_new, boot_old, and system).
I'm b/l unlocked on system 98.16.3 and that's what I have in my FXZ_xt907 folder. So assume I should stick with motochopper 1.1 since I'm not on 98.18.78?

If you are unlocked, you should be rooting through your custom recovery

Bootloader unlocked people need to learn to stop with root exploits. Install your custom recovery (twrp most likely), grab the supersu zip file from chainfire, boot up recovery, and flash that bad boy. Root DONE. And if you want you could drop your custom recovery in the FXZ_xt907 directory and write a new script called RECOVERY_xt907.bat and drop that in the fastboot_scripts dir. As long as you're using fastboot [snapdragon] as your flash methodology, you could then use that to reinstall custom recovery after any FXZ operations you perform. The script would look like this (obviously replace the twrp_2.6.3.0.img with whatever your custom recovery filename happens to be):

P.S. You can see the real power of using the House of Moto as a framework rather than an end product once you start writing custom scripts for it. For example, if I was dealing with an unlocked Moto device, I'd create my own root script that basically installs custom recovery, boots into it, instructs the user to put recovery into sideload mode, and then sideload the super su zip for them. DONE. But that's just how I'd do it.

^ I can see that makes a lot of sense about root and doing that all via script. When I recently got a gently used bootloader unlocked Droid M via Swappa .... that had been previously unrooted to use employer email ... I found motochopper to be no solution to re-root. By trial and error to regain root I made a stab in the dark by installing TWRP, boot into it, then flashed superuser.zip to get root.
Doing that all by script using the House of Moto would be a good way to go. Sadly, "writing custom scripts" translates in my brain to: "Your mother-in-law is coming to visit for a month." At that point my brain melts into a blob of warm jello .... and I find myself curled up in a fetal position. :

LMAO. If I get some time later I'll put together a generic "root your unlocked moto" script that can be dropped into root. But it will require end user action...providing their custom recovery image and the latest supersu binary. And figuring out how to get the driver to work for sideload mode. Mainly cause I don't have a moto device to be able to do that anymore. But I can script it. I have it written for the S4 GPE already. I'll modify it.
