I will give that a shot thank you very much, the only concern I have is that I don't have a Razr maxx but I was under the assumption the xt912 covered the razr as well. My phone showed xt912 in the about phone section.

The RAZR and the RAZR MAXX (xt 912) are identical .... except for the battery...

Be careful. Downgrading isn't possible. If you're on 4.1.2, you'd need the 4.1.2 FXZ.

Sir..sorry to cludder/muddy up your "HOM" thread with all the unrelated matters, thank you for your patients with us on this XT912 issue..

2 HDD's bit the bit bucket, so, yea.  It's going to take some time to restore everything but at least it's being worked on.

Edit: Everything works now. I took an OTA update 12.15.15 (even though I had already installed it with HouseOfMoto), and that resolved both of the issues I described below.

Thanks very much for this. It got me out of my bootloop, which is great news. But I may have done something wrong. It left me with at least two problems:

* Phone can not be shut down. (It boots immediately.)

* Wifi can not be enabled.

Any thoughts? It's a Droid Maxx. Here's the output:

The OTA Kit Kat update bricked my phone, but used HoM to reflash the ROM and get it back up and running. Sure beats having to wait 2 weeks to get a replacement from Moto. Thanks!

It certainly is nice in a post, that at least, mentions what device the post speaks of..

thanks so much! It worked for me! For good hour I was trembling at the thought of buying another expensive phone because I messed up my current one.

To those who have trouble getting this to work:

Read the directions EXACTLY. Also, dont do ANYTHING to your device during the process, just have it on and in fastboot mode; thats it

I love when someone gets it the second time after re-reading the directions and following them to the letter. That restores my faith in humanity. Try, try again!

This process worked like a charm, thank you. However, I didn't realize until after I updated, Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper had not saved a backup of my protected SU...doh!! Please confirm...based on my reading, a ) there is presently no way to root 9.30.1 without an unlocked bootloader, and b ) certainly no means of unlocking the bootloader?

Though not an enjoyable experience, I could do a full factory reset, root, and restore my TBP backup. This is assuming, restoring to factory would allow me to re-root. If so, maybe I should also unlock my bootloader at that point, if this is possible?

Pardon if this Post should be located elsewhere, and thanks in advance for your input.

Well, since you updated, you won't be able to restore your older version backup.  You also can't revert back.  Restoring to factory will only take you back to the latest stock version you were on, it won't take you back to how your phone was when you first purchased it.  There is no way to root 9.30.1.

Sadly this is why I say read, read again, and read one more time before doing. Using an FXZ overwrites the system partition. That means su, and any backup of it, will be lost. Now that you are on this version, you are stuck there with no root and certainly no way to unlock. All of these points have been discussed to death for the version you're on.
