I have been having issue with my OTA failing going from 9.18.79 to 9.18.94 on a DROID Razr Maxx HD.  I have an unlocked bootloader and am rooted.  I was looking to use this tool to install this OTA, however I am having a hard time decerning which FXZ I need from this location:

Do I need the FXZ for the current version I am on? Or do I need to FXZ to the newest version since my OTA isn't working?

FXZ to the new version and you should be fine.  Since you're unlocked you just re-root in custom recovery after you use the KEEP DATA script and you're good to go.

You're making this WAYYYY more difficult than it needs to be.

You simply extract the HouseOfMoto zip file to your C:\ drive so you end up with C:\HouseOfMoto

Then you extract the support file for your phone into the C:\HouseOfMoto directory so that the rsd_scripts and fastboot_scripts directories have the scripts in them

Then create a C:\HouseOfMoto\FXZ_xt907 directory

Open your FXZ zip file.  You'll be staring at a directory with a .xml on the end of it.  Click INTO that in the zip.  You'll now see a bunch of files.  One of them being boot.img (just so you know you're in the right place).  Select all those files and extract them to C:\HouseOfMoto\FXZ_xt907.

That's it.  That's the whole setup process.  It's really not nearly as hard or complicated as people make it.  Mostly it's just a lack of reading and skipping things that they don't think are important in the directions.

That's usually how it goes :) We let the simple things go right by because we think it needs to be harder than that....

I don't know how many times I have to repeat this today to many many different people....

*THERE IS NO ROOT FOR THE LATEST HD OR M UPDATES*

Attempting to root them will likely brick your phone as you've already discovered.  Will the House of Moto fix it if you try? Sure, but, you won't be successful getting root so it's pointless to waste your time.

But why can't you can't just stick the SuperSu thing in your Moto script? I mean, it's in the PlayStore and stuff.

Because the only way to flash it is if your boot loader is unlocked. If it's not unlocked, you can't flash it nor install it. That's why it won't work.

Oops. Missed the sarcasm there.

Might be a dumb question, but is my TWRP gone now?

As of yesterday, I had Droid razr hd - 9.18.79.xt926.Verizon.en.US, unlocked & rooted with TWRP installed.

Accepted the update, went into reboot loop.

House of Moto corrected the issue (thank you very much for the easy to use and working software by the way!)

but of course I no longer have root (as expected).

I was assuming the proper way to regain root was to hold vol+/- while powering on, then selecting "recovery" but that just gives me a screen with the "dead droid" (which scared me pretty good, as my phone was unresponsive & displaying that for a few minutes before rebooting itself :p )

Please pardon my ignorance, but what should I do now to regain root and/or install a recovery software?

Thanks!

[edit]

forgot to mention I accepted and successfully installed the ota update today

TWRP is a custom recovery.  When you flashed your phone back to stock it replaced TWRP with stock recovery.  So yes, it is gone for the moment.  I'll let someone else answer the reroot/custom recovery question.

You can use my universal root method.  Just extract it to the root directory in the HouseOfMoto directory, drop in your TWRP image, and from the House Of Moto menu, you'll have a new root option.  Run it, it'll ask to flash twrp, and then walk you through sideloading root.  Just make sure to install Koush's universal ADB driver and you're good to go.

Is this part of the House of Moto dialog or something I need to handle before running it?

Something that, if you're going to use my universal root solution, you need to install beforehand.  I think I provide a link in my universal root thread.  If not, just google for koush universal adb and you'll find it.

If we [I] beg reaaaaaaallly nicely, is there a mirror one [I] could get the fastboot and rsd scripts in the event that the Support target for one's [my] xt1080m is temporarily hosed due to MediaFire's overwhelming uptime capabilities and one [okay, me still] is exceptionally impatient? :)

Just tested my links.  They work fine.  Problem with MF must be on your side.  No I don't have a mirror.
