Step 1. Dl 211
Step 2. Fastboot 181.
Step 3. Fastboot the 11 kernel using Unstuck 211
Step 4. Boot into recovery.
Step 5. Flash 211 from external sd card
Step 6. Boot up and enable usb debugging
Step 7. Boot into ap fastboot mode
Step 8 flash 85 kernel using Unstuck 211
Step 9 boot using bp tools
Step 10 use ics root using Matts utility 1.6
Step 11 flash 211 kernel using Unstuck 211

Step 12 profit

A lot of you people on GB and the fastbootable leaks are gonna be in for a surprise when you take the OTA and still can't go back to GB lol.

Hicks, once the OTA hits, I couldn't care less about being able to fastboot back to GB :-) . As of now though, being on fastbootable firmware assures me that I will definitely receive the OTA when it does drop. I know Matt and a few others say they are certain that they'll be able to jump to the official ICS, but I've been around long enough to see Moto and VZ pull some evil stuff, as I'm sure you have. My wife's X stuck on 2.3.4 is proof of that. The only way to get hers back rooted is to flash the Euro Milestone X firmware through Linux just so you don't flash the European radio, and screw it all to hell. I'm just playing on the safe side of the park for now. Anyways, I hope folks are right, and they're able to get on track. There's always that .01% chance that Moto will pull another B.S stunt right at the final release (Like change to an incompatible bootloader, you never know)to screw people over. Again though, as for being able to fastboot back to GB when the Official is released. There would be no reason in the world I would even want to consider that, lol.

My phone is rooted and I have Voodoo OTA RootKeeper installed with a protected su copy available. I also have Ginger Unroot installed. My question is this: When the OTA ICS drops, can I simply use Voodoo to temporarily unroot or should I use Ginger Unroot or some other method to totally unroot my phone before installing the OTA? Thanks for your help?

Just unroot using Voodoo. There is an app to reroot 4.0.4

Holy cow, that was painful. Finally got root after many, many, many... attempts. Thanks everyone that helped me through this.

By the way I thought we were suppose to have banners if we are donating members. How do I go about getting a banner? I did donate.

This worked great for me. Although I have moved forward many many times this once again was very easy on my safe strapped maxx. Even the new root process to root 4.0.4 directly worked perfect first try. Thank you for the leak!
