What am I missing here? I am running a stock 6.12.181 without root. So far I have...

1. Fastbooted back to stock and ran all OTA upgrades to get back to 6.12.181 (Its like she's fresh outa the box.)
2. Placed ZIP onto SD card.
3. Cleared factory settings. (kinda redundant at this point, but I like to stick to the plan ; )
4. Install update ZIP from SD card.

I get an error regarding Signature verification.... followed by sadness.

Like I said, no Root, no Voodoo, no Safestrap, no Bootstrap, nothing.

Thanks for the help in advance.

What worked for me was putting the zip file in the cache of the phone itself, not the sd card. That however requires root. If I didnt place it in the cache I would get Error 7 or error tmp blah blah. Once you boot into recovery it should detect it automagicly as it did for me.

Is there a way to get the .211 update to the phone if recovery is saying it does not exist.. I can boot into recovery but the .211 file is not listed. Am i screwed?

you have to put it on a different sd then pop it in phone or go back to 181 if you can.

Maybe you saved it to your internal SD instead of the external one?

I am on .211 from stock - rooted.181. Things are looking great. The only issue i have seen is that somehow my stock SMS messaging got removed. I only noticed because my wife sent me a text and I never got it. Luckily I am using Go SMS Pro and that is what warned me that stock was uninstalled. Go SMS Pro has a setting to take over the SMS capability, so I did find an immediate workaround.

I remember seeing Messaging on the home screen after the flash and I thought I only removed the icon. I have not uninstalled any bloat that I am aware of. I didn't think that Messaging could be uninstalled so easy (i.e. thought it was a system file)

Do I need stock SMS to get back on OTA path in the future? How would I get it back, since I can't go back to .181 now? Can I just do a factory reset now and stay on .211? Thanks

Thanks for the tip, but after a quick rooting of said phone, the install still fails the same way.

"E:signature verification failed"

Installation aborted.

You should toggle signature verification that's what worked with me.

After you fastboot to 1.81, make sure you are flashing the boot.img for 211 from the untuck211 package. After that, format data and cache.

Did you wipe data/cache before? Try that (even if you already did), sometimes it craps out like that for no real reason, and may take a few tries.

I am in the same boat, i have tried this several times re downloading zip and replacing it on sd. still get install abort.

cant get any more simple on the process to do this flash so something is wrong with the zip file or there is a file on phone that is causing this that is not getting deleted.

i can flash the ics 79 no problem

I was going to try the Cheescakev2.apk method but i dont think i will do that.

I went back to 173 gb and i will do OTA to 181 and see if that does anything.

I suggest that you flash the 211 unstuck image file and then try again to install 211 from your sd card. I was having problems as well. kept getting errors while I was installing 211 and after flashing the unstuck 211 image file it worked fime for me.

as long as you fastbooted back to .181 (which you can do, from .75), then you should be OK.

You said you were coming from .75, right? Did you fastboot BACK to .181 first, let the device restart, etc? Since you were on .75, you would not have needed to use the unstuck util at all (since the 211 update updates from .181, and since you were on .75, you should have been able to get back to .181 w/o an issue).

I suggest fastbooting again, back to .181, and letting your device boot just to make sure it did take .181. After that, try the update again.
