Thanks for the thread. I like to learn how to do things without getting nasty comments because I'm a newbie with some new programming processes and procedures.

OP updated. Had to move a little around since I am seeing that 5 posts might not have been enough.

Jayrod - this is fantastic, you've put together so much in a short period of time - do you sleep?  Don't worry, no questions from me, I was curious after all the talk over in the lair. This was a great idea - good for you following through on it.

Hahaha..Thanks! Yeah,I do sleep ...kinda. I had a long weekend and with the exception of spending time with the family and getting a few A/C calls I was able to get some of this out of my head and onto here.

BTW...Theming the Notification pulldown  is up. This is more than just theming the panel. I added a few links and went through a few techniques that I use.

Well, with the exception of cleaning up a few things,I guess I'm done with my part of this.  Working with a flashable .zip  is up.

Anyone who would like to contribute is more than welcome!!!!!

Epic. Thanks again for taking the time to explain how all this works. Now to find the time to see if I have the brain power to actually do any of this...

Yeah but I'm realizing that this whole process takes a special kind of mind. No I don't mean a "tiimmmmmay" kind of special.

Not sure if this is relevant to the thread or just may be useful to themers in general but I have seen a lot of talk on the XDA news thread about Xposed Framework. I have only looked into it a bit but thought maybe you guys would want a deeper look.

Also note: Jay I have pinned this killer thread at the top of the forum.  :)

Thanks! I was going to pin it but... Xposed is pretty cool..I've messed with a couple of modules. I have no skills with creating one..and when editing one for my personal use..it was the one .apk that I had to resign from just PNG swapping!

figured id show a quick themeing trick for those wanting to theme AOSP with quicksettings...changing the quicksetting tile and user tile shown here

  0366ee5c-64b6-4376-9afc-062e3fdd2cf3_zps

decompile the systemui apk

now the user tile already exists...its in systemui/hdpi or xhdpi depending on what phone you have...you just make the image you want and exchange it....make the image 138x131

now go ahead and make another tile the same size but keep in mind the user tile needs a blank space at the bottom to show your name...you can see in the screen shot...

once your done with the quicksetting tile name it qs_tile_background and put it in the same folder as the user tile

to make the qs tile work you need to go to the layout folder and look for the xml named the same(qs_tile_background.xml) and delete that xml....now instead of using that xml it will pull that image instead...recompile....profit...

if you dont like your image and want to change it you dont have to decompile again...just pull the image from the folder...change it and put it back...keep doing that until your happy

hope this helps

i remember wanting to theme certain parts of my phone but didnt know where the images where...i searched and searched...i found a thread a guy did about 3 or 4 years ago where he showed what all the apks did and what xml and images where....its where i started....then ics and jb came out and things where different....whole new ball game....i didnt have threads like this(none i found anyway) i even asked for help and never got a response...so i had to learn on my own....hopefully this thread is that thread that someone is looking for and will find it.....if theres something you want to know about something specific like stausbar, dialer,or whatever...post it here and me or jay(dont want to put words in his mouth) but it is his thread haha...we will share what we know
