I got pissed and threw it on the concrete and ordered a new phone...this is going to have to be a learned "what not to do" experience...no rooting for me

You know I do make money, and I can buy a new phone...it's not that big of a deal. I was up for an upgrade anyway

Okay. That is fine. You could just do a factory reset and your phone would probably be back to normal.
I apologize for the assumption.

You had Debugging checked, third party apps checked, in mtp mode, all drivers current including ADB drivers that sometimes dont install csuse of a antivirus program running. I would delete the drivers, reinstall them and try again. Tell me what the output says in the CMD window.

Not sure what the problem ppl are having.i have rooted both a MAXX and a RAZR with this method, on the ota and had no problem. Anyone else use this without any major problems?

Nope it works just fine. Heck I fastbooted my Maxx back to .181 from the 79 ICS leak, took the ICS ota to get updated to 211 and then rooted using this.

If you were on the .211 build all you need to do was switch USB modes and the root process would have worked just fine. I just redid my whole device last wk and rooted stock .221 OTA update without issue

It is quite amazing how difficult this process is for some people. I do not claim to be an expert or even good at this type of stuff. But I was just able to flash the .211 leak before it was an OTA. Then flashed the newest .214 leak, installed a custom ROM after that with safestrap, and I just rooted the phone from all the instructions on these forums. I have learned how important it is to follow every direction perfectly, and I have never had an issue.

I used Matt's 1.7 utility and was able to simply plug my phone in, click a few buttons, and the phone was rooted. All I had to do was watch.

Just an fyi to everyone... this method does not work if you have applied the recent downgrade leak to 211 from 214. I tried it three times and still no root. Unless someone else can confirm.

I actually don't know which method the OP uses to root, but Matt's 1.7 utility uses Dan Rosenberg's new ICS 4.0.4 Root method. This worked on my stock .211 as well as the leaked .214.
