Use the 2nd link in the OP for 214. It contains an Unstuck Tool.

Run the tool and flash the 85 kernel
Boot into the bootlader and select BP Tools
Enable USB Debugging
Use Matts utility to root
Reboot into fastboot
Flash the 214 kernel
Reboot
Profit!

In the first post, in the thread for 214, there are 2 links, you need the second one.

That because you're not supposed to just reboot after flashing the 85 kernel. You're supposed to boot into the bootloader like my instructions say, then select BP Tools. It will reboot normally, that's fine, its supposed to. Then root with Matts utility. The flash the 214 kernel.

OK...so I did it exactly the way I was told...not on mass storage...bootloader..select .85 and let it do its thing..and so on...still at .211. I am not going to waste any more of your time and call it a loss....thanks for trying!

It worked perfect for me..i did exactly as instructions said too...after trying to root directly from the utility for at least an hour unsuccessfully.

You'll still be on. 211 when done! But you'll have the. 85 kernel... did you try to root after doing the downgrade? If not try it..youll probably get root.

Not sure what the problem ppl are having.i have rooted both a MAXX and a RAZR with this method, on the ota and had no problem. Anyone else use this without any major problems?

OK so after last night, I did the tool and it rebooted 2 times and during the second reboot...it stopped responding. So I get up this morning and no matter how I try to boot it, it boots regular and then when it gets to the home screen, it is EXTREMELY SLOW...I am talking 20 seconds to respond. Then I might get to my apps, or I might not and it goes black...with my menu buttons at the bottom lit up. I don't know...I plugged it into superoneclick and it says it is rooted without superuser some crap...I don't know. All I know is, I cannot afford a new phone. Dammit man!

Sounds like a drivers issue to me. Re-install the drivers from the 1.7 tool or try a different USB port or PC.
Have you tried the Razr's Edge root?

Actually I did a factory reset, and it finally rooted. Must have been something on the phone preventing root..Im not sure. Thank you.

I got pissed and threw it on the concrete and ordered a new phone...this is going to have to be a learned "what not to do" experience...no rooting for me
