Ok, so I was running ICS .215, and finally decided today to take the plunge and load the JB OTA.  I reverted back to .211 and ran the update, rerooted my phone, and installed Safestrap and all seems to be running sweet and well.

My issue is this...I had been sporting a custom lockscreen ring, using this post

I of course lost this when I reverted to .211, as it is part of a system file which the reload wiped.  I tried to use the old ICS instructions, and Safestrap, but it didn't work, and I bricked the phone.

Recovered from brick, hoping someone has done this mod and can help me out.  Missing my custom look.

I think I know which files to replace in the framework-res...and know how to change that file, simply not sure how to safely load that file back without bricking it.

Thanks!

Anyway..... there are a couple ways you can replace the framework-res.apk .... the easiest would be a flashable zip..... or you could use adb and push it to /system/framework then use adb shell and chmod 644 /system/framework/framework-res.apk...... then reboot...... On you may have a few FC on reboot.... but rebooting again should fix it..... .... are you having fun yet? ... if not, YOU SHOULD BE!!!

Thanks, but I ended up bricked when I edited the framework file, by simply adding the new image files, and uploaded it as a zip.

The other suggestions I would have to research, I suppose.  Don't have much time for that, so the silly little key image will just have to do for the time being.  Thanks again.

Uploaded as zip? ..... could you elaborate on that.... you can't just flash a regular zip (in case you didn't know) ....:)

Anyway, the ADB method is probably the most reliable method.... although the most time consuming.....

If you need them here is the steps
place the modified framework-resume.apk in your ADB directory (unless you have ADB in "path"

Open command window

adb remount

ADB push framework-res.apk /system/framework

ADB shell

cd /system/framework

rm-r framework-res.apk

chmod 644 framework-res.apk

exit

exit

ADB reboot

That should install the framework-res.apk properly
:)

....you should be having fun....

I guess I should say I put the zip on my external SD card and ran it as an update in safestrap (previously had used Clockwork Recovery.)  I'll try the ADB route and let you know.  Thanks for the guidance. :)
