Flash in SS and yes.... og razr is the xt912

 

Edit: Just flahed in SS 3.11 on xt912 and it's fine.

Edit: Just downloaded and still has white background. Tried to download the link under "540x960" and still has the same outcome; white background for the boot animation.

For the OG RAZR you have to use the OG RAZR folder for it. The OG RAZR uses system/local/ so that one will flash it to the system/local. But others are having problems with the blacked out ones too so I will look at it tonight

if you put the bootani in /data/local then you can leave the original which is in /system/media and the secondary ani gets picked up.

This is for the 912.  It's a boot ani, it shouldn't brick anything.  If you don't want to flash it (to avoid "bricking"), unzip the file and pull the bootanimation.zip out and place it in your system/media and set the appropriate permissions.  Don't forget to rename your original bootanimation to bootanimation.zip.bak or something like that, prior to placing this in the /media folder.

For future reference.... the RAZR is the xt912 .... rik hit it right on the head..... to expand on his, if you use a root file explorer (or ADB) you need to change permissions to rw-r-r (or chmod 644 if using adb shell)...
