Help me understand. What's not asking about root? TWRP? Did you restore root with the utility after the update? What happens if you open the SuperSU app?

i used matt's razr M utility since I didn't need all the items relating to locked bootloader.
now i HAVE WORKING 2.3.2.3 TWRP but no Root

That's a very old version of TWRP. And root is a matter of flashing the supersu zip in TWRP. Done.

OK so safe to use the recovery.img from your zip and push it in fastboot?
that should get me your version of TWRP right?
it was titled recovery so I didn't want to assume it was TWRP

Good to assume it's not. No, that's stock recovery. This utility is designed for those who are locked. Unlocked users have it SO much easier. All you have to do is go get TWRP from here:
Then you need to use fastboot to install it. They show the command on the twrp page for your device. Once twrp is installed, you need the flashable supersu zip that can be flashed in twrp:
Stick that on your ext sdcard and flash it in twrp. Done.
WARNING: The instructions in this post are for UNLOCKED phones *ONLY*.

First thing this morning I was prompted again with the "Install now" / "Install later" question for the OTA update. With my blurry, just woke up vision I selected "Install now". UGH! I have been pressing "Install later" for weeks! CRAP!!!
Researched it when it first asked me and decided that I would wait and see what people came up with before I did anything... So much for that plan...
Anyway Your steps and scripts worked great! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Basically, push TWRP ver 2.5.5 back to phone, then reboot from within twrp and it'll ask to restore root. I didn't have to reflash Su files but if you do the link is in that post.

I've got a bad feeling...I'm downgrading (Step 2) and RSD has been flashing the boot.img for almost 30 minutes...what should I do? Thanks all!
I stopped RSD after 45 minutes and everything was still functioning. I think I got a little to cavalier by trying to do this from within a Virtualbox Win 7. I'll need to come up with a native Windows box I guess and try again? Thankfully the phone is functioning just like nothing happened right now...

Yea, I'd definitely try to find a native Windows box if possible.

Hm, got through all the steps fine...phone was successfully rooted and then updated from the SD, but when I start the last step to re-obtain root access, it goes through everything until 'device found' and just sits on that screen forever. Any ideas as to what's happening?
EDIT: Now it seems to have finished...but now I'm getting some sort of Superuser failure where it says the Superuser binary isn't installed...tried just dragging the Superuser APK over and installing it from the SD card, but I had the same issue upon attempting to open it.

on step 2 when i want rsd lite to pop up, the rsd program pops up, and then closes right after. how do i get it to actually run? im in ap fastboot mode when i- power off the phone, then down volume and power button.. once in ap fastboot mode, i then hit enter for rsd to run...but it just closes as soon as it pops up.
so f%cking dumb to lock phones

thanks for ur reply. my brother just got the razr ,m cause i have the droid 4 and im heavily into android roms and themes and development. i know android but not computers at all. and this is my roomates laptop for school.
so when the update comes out (thanks again) do i delete this samuriHI program and download the new updated one? and do i delete the file that i transfered to my sd card?
on droid4, using safestrap, we have rom slots, where we can run up to 4 different roms at once. do yal have rom slots on the razor m safestrap?
i am very familair with droid 4 safestrap, but i dont know if yal are similair to the droid 4 safestrap.

Alright, RAZR M people, I've posted a version of motochopper 1.1 for the RAZR M. I can't test it as I don't own the device. One of you brave souls should give it a try and post the results.

Yes, delete the old stuff. It shouldn't be necessary. Just understand that what I posted hasn't been tested on the razr m. Make sure you have the FXZ for the latest version kicking around in case I made a mistake.
