Actually... I got it to work. Sorry for the noob post. I guess I just wasn't quite sure how to word what was going on. But thanks again for your assistance.

Excellent.  Glad you got it working!

I tried that link. I feel stupid but whats the trick to that link??. I tried clicking it, copying link to clipboard, different browsers etc, the most it does is that me to the same page.

EDIT - ok I just copied it and cut off the first part and it worked -

And the Security Key is I0H4nBPN76ATNoZo2w3XcVIDOZVLWtRJAzggnevtcIs - You will need to copy and paste this into the field as Mega automatically encrypts them.

Hopefully this helps any other fellow tards.

And using MD5 Checker version 4.0, I came up with This as the MD5

I was wondering, because I can't find it anywhere....

Is there a list of ROMs for the Droid Razr M with a locked bootloader running 4.1.2 and Safestrap? I heard that there were a couple, but not many. If someone knows the actual names of the ROMs or if there's a link that I missed, that would be great.

my daughters razr m has not yet received the update.

wanting to root unlock bootloader and then accept the update.

can I use thIs utility for all but bootloader?

thinking I'd do motochopper then bootloader

then use this utility to  maintain root then push the update

will that work?

So I understand root/unlock but seems that installing twrp requires root? Am I mistaken?

It just requires an unlocked bootloader.  :)

I did the update before rooting and unlocking but luckily, I found this post and was able to root my phone at least.

Thank you very much!

1.  Roll back the system to the previous version using a modified FXZ avoiding the tz flash

I'm sorry, total noob here, but could anyone please explain how to do step 1?  I downloaded the file you linked, just need a little help with this process please.

Also if it matter, I got my Droid m yesterday and updated without thinking, it's on:

system version: 98.16.3

android version: 4.1.2

edit:  Ok, I managed to figure it all our myself, ignore this post it all worked great! :D

And a big thank you to the people who've made this possible!  I can't unlock my phone, but at least I can root thanks you guys :)

edit2:  Hmm, it said I had root when i checked, but after following step 6 root is lost.  I followed all previous steps, any idea why this is?  Is it because my original version was 98.16.3 and not  98.18.78?

edit3:  Redid all the steps, this time it successfully restored root after updating.  weird

I'm not sure Kaos offers help through his personal email. Feel free to post your questions here. That is the reason for this thread to help everyone.  :)

got root, unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP

haven't installed update yet becuase I am not seeing a way to restore root in TWRP.

not an obvious "restore root" option so I assume I need to push some commands one way or another?

trying to find it but most of the threads are cluttered with "oops I took the update now what?!?!"

i haven't taken the update but want to restore root with unlocked bootloader

I know it can be done but searching for steps

I have not personally done it but I believe people said its a question you get the first time you boot into TWRP without root. It says something along the lines of Do you want to restore root? You then slide the tab to do it. It's been confirmed to work.

Are you sure it's TWRP and not Moto recovery?? Did you install the update in TWRP? Maybe try and flash TWRP again.
