Yeap, I tried it before, but got the same error.

Please give me a screen shot of the files in the FXZ directory.  Something's clearly missing.

I'm at a loss on this one. Everything looks like it should be there.  Delete the whole SamuriHL_Downgrade directory, unzip it again, and try again.  Something is not right but I don't know what.

Define "acted like it took the update".  It's not a matter of just putting it on the sdcard.  You do have to go and install it.  You did this, right?  Step 5?  Followed the directions as it tells you?

Yes, I followed step 5. Selected the zip file on my phone and watched the update install with the android behind it. Then wiped cache and rebooted. I don't have any other zip files on my ext card so I know that I clicked on the right file.

If it succeeded in recovery then it installed.  Post a pic of your about screen.

isn't that the error you get when you've selected the XML from inside the zip?

I thought of that, too, but, it seems to be extracted.

that is correct. You started there , rolled back then when you installed the update you are back to it.

Great. Thanks. I was thinking that you were implying that there was a recent update that I missed. My phone was soft bricked for a month. I appreciate your help!

This may be a dumb question, but... if we can get to AP Fastboot, and from there into the Stock Recovery, and if that gives us the ability to install a file from the external sdcard, why couldn't you use this to install twrp or cwm?

You have the signing key used to sign official updates?  If no, then that's why.  :)

No the folder with the XML was extracted. It seems to be a problem with my Windows 7x64. I've tried to run the tool under Win XP, and it started normally, but now I have another problem -read/write error while flashing file

Make sure the Moto drivers are updated and maybe try a different port on the XP machine.

Thanks
