Ok... Sounds good. Now, If you could so kindly tell me where to find that and how to do that... I would love to. At this point I couldcare less about root. Just need the phone back.

There's a whole forum section dedicated to the House of Moto.  But I'm not hand holding.  You'll have to read and follow directions.  My advice is to read it a few times before doing.

I downloaded the VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-94-1_CFC.xml.zip ... Can you atleast tell me if that is the correct FXZ and if so...I dont see a Directory inside to copy. Would it by chance be labeled something different?

Yes, that's the correct file.  The contents will be extracted to the C:\HouseOfMoto\FXZ_xt907 directory.

Then it's not set up properly.  Re-read and follow the directions.  Otherwise run the CreateLOG script and post the results in the House of Moto thread.

So like I said earlier I rooted using this method, and haven't updated to the new OTA and don't plan on doing so. I have noticed that after rooting I no longer can change my lock to no lock, face unlock, or the slide unlock. Anyone know how to fix this? It says "Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage." Sounds like SuperSU may be the reason but I don't know much about any of this.

Thanks everyone

If you have, or have ever had FoxFi installed, that's your problem. Uninstall FoxFi, then clear credentials in system settings - security.

Hell yes. Thanks a ton. I wanted to turn my lock off and was real confused when it was all greyed out. I love this forum.

You are the best. Thank you so much for the root solution. I am so excited to see what else I can do with the phone now.

For the brave that can follow directions, I've updated the OP with instructions on how to root 9.18.78.  If you attempt this on the newest OTA and brick, as a result, you will need to figure out how to fix it on your own.  People need to take more time to read before doing stuff to their phone and expecting that someone will fix it for them.  Enough said.

So no hand holding here, eh?  LOL.

For the readers, for the most part, if you had one of these devices that you were able to root and unlock the bootloader, you are 'in'.  Otherwise, you are on your own.

good luck

If they don't follow the directions and brick their phone, why would you hold their hand?  There's no "in" or "out" for this script and there's currently no root method for the latest update, that's why the one that's included is for the previous OTA.  The BL unlock went away two OTAs ago.  The latest OTA can't be rooted or unlocked, so that's why there's nothing included for the newest OTAs.

I meant no offence. I'm a firm believer in cellzealot's creed of "read more, post less". I was one of the lucky.

Just wanted to say thank you so much for this! My phone tried taking the OTA to 98.30.1 a few weeks ago and froze on the red eye during boot. I had to flash it back to stock JB to at least get it to boot again, but needed to get root access to use Titanium Backup to freeze the updater and this did the trick! Yes, it's taken me almost 3 weeks to get it straightened out - I had no idea what I was doing. Actually, I still don't, really, I had to get help from my brother to get through this part, but the phone seems to be back to normal now!

Thanks again!! You guys are awesome!

Do you guys know if theres a way to downgrade back to 98.18.78 (or the revision of 4.1.2 before that)? I want root access back, I can't live without it haha. I was gonna use Matt's razr m utility to try, but didn't want to wipe everything and do it if it wasn't going to work..

Only if you are unlocked...... The security was upgraded thus you can't "flash backwards" on locked devices....
