So I kept hitting update later thinking I would wait to get un-lazy and put on CM.. when one morning the girlfriend turned off alarm and hit update ;)

Thanks a million for the re-root  :D  :D  :D

So I loved Root but it's just not enough for me. I run out of space to easily because I love apps (I guess) and with a backup stored it hogs the space. Since I used this what do I need to do to unroot?

Put your backups on the external SD?

Hey I just ran run.bat and finished the rooting process and now when my phone turns on it just says "Fastboot Reason: Flash Failure

usb connected.....I'm assuming this is bad. I have the correct version of the phone and software, trust me I checked. The batch file was a little weird in that it said root completed.....press enter to restore boot.img? should I have just exited out of the file and not pressed enter? It was working fine until I continued to run it...

edit: fixed it by running the last part of the .bat file again...good thing that worked or i would be screwwwwed!

The boot img flash was returning you to the proper boot img do it was a good thing to do. It will boot into fastboot automatically everyone it is restarted if a flash fails for any reason. Glad you got it going. My advice was going to be to run it again :)

FYI, for anyone that has recently received a Motorola RAZR M - XT907

I got a Moto Razr M - XT907 about a month ago from Verizon. This is my first phone with JellyBean, didn't realize I couldn't save app data on SD, and was stuck with only capacity of internal SD. So glad I found this forum and was able to root, so I can use apps to link my app data, to my parted SD card, as I have now saved a whole lot of space on the internal SDcard.

System version 98.16.3.XT907.Verizon.en.US

Model DROID RAZR M

Android 4.1.2

Baseband vers SM_BP_101032.020.78p

Kernel

3.0.31-ge491d6d

Build 9.8.1Q-78-1

Build Date Wed May 29th

Stock ROM, I just wanted to get rid of bloatware and fully utilize External SD Card, so bootloader is still locked. I have installed Link2SD, System App Mover, ES File Explorer, FolderMount, and Root Browser to address my file location issues. I will probably need to install a custom recovery, as of now I'm still using stock, but just glad I can get my app data on my Ext4 Partition. Also, I used a USB adapter to partition my microSD on my old Window XP system.

Everything seems to be working great, with nearly all of my internal SD 4GB still available

Note: I got a call from Verizon Rep about 2 or 3 days after getting phone, asking if everything was alright, in retrospect I wonder if they were checking to see if I had any issues with not being able to manage using external SD Card Space.

running 32 GB MicroHD card Cas6, with 3 partitions. 20gb Fat32 Primary, 6gb Ext4, rest Fat32, using Link2SD for now with Ext4 to link all my app data, still have

Good info for sending data to your external.  However, on that system version you won't be able to unlock the bootloader and load an aftermarket recovery.

I'm new to the Razr M. I've seen a few people mention that we can't do much after getting root since the bootloader is locked. I just got the phone yesterday and have 98.16.3, not rooted yet. I was going to run this later today to get root.

Without the bootloader unlocked and this update, is that meaning no rom flashing even with just root? I only really wanted root for greenify anyway and was planning on staying stock, but I was curious.

I've had the Razr the last 2 years. I haven't had to deal with bootloaders in a while so I'm really rusty on them.

Thanks
